CycleThe Suffolk Bicycle Riders Association is Long Island's largest cycling club. Organized in 1977, we are a club made up of all ages and cycling abilities. Active members enjoy riding together year round in a relaxed and friendly group atmosphere. Our rides range from short, easy trips for beginners, to moderately-paced tours with snack breaks, to fast, challenging rides for the more competitive minded. Volunteer club members organize group rides, leaving from various locations throughout Mid-Suffolk and the East End. Their routes provide us a wonderful variety of places to tour and explore.

SBRA promotes cycling of all abilities for health, fitness and fun. Come ride with SBRA.

2015 Beginner Century Training and Experienced Century Riders Training Information

Come join the fun and take part in on our weekly century training rides. These rides (which start in early March) are designed to get us in shape for the season, and more specifically, to prepare us for the SBRA Annual Swiezy / Pope Memorial Montauk Railroad Century Ride on Saturday, May 9th, 2015.

    First Time Century Riders

If you have never done a 100 mile ride (but would like to), sign up for Bob and Josie's free "Beginner Century Training" School. This year's series of Saturday training rides HAS "CHANGED" TO START ON MARCH 14TH (due to weather), 2 weeks after SBRA's Super Cycling Saturday on February 28th to prepare you for riding. The training will start with a 25 mile "D" pace ride from the Ronkonkoma Railroad Station. Each Saturday the rides get a little longer and a little faster, until you are able to ride 100 miles at a "B" pace by May. Past experience proves that anyone who stays with the program WILL be able to comfortably complete the 100 mile ride to Montauk.

May is National Bike Month -- Bike to Work FAQ -- Read to Learn More

The League of American Bicyclists is promoting Bike-to-Work Week from May 11-15 and Bike-to-Work Day on Friday, May 15, 2015.
National Bike Month includes an ever-expanding diversity of events in communities nationwide — but the biggest day of the month is Bike to Work Day.

More than half of the U.S. population lives within five miles of their workplace, making bicycling a feasible and fun way to get to work. With increased interest in healthy, sustainable and economic transportation options, it’s not surprising that, from 2000 to 2011, the number of bicycle commuters in the U.S. grew by more than 47 percent.
