NOTE:
Under the Ride Level details, the "Type: Road Bike" refers to the ride will be on paved roads (rather then off road trails). Although a Road Bike is suggested for Road Bike Type rides it is not required. Hybrid and mountain bikes can be used on these rides as well provided you are comfortable with the pace outline in the Posted Ride. This ride calendar is for club rides, club meetings, club event posts and shop rides only.
For Other Events in our area and off Long Island check out the "Other Rides & Events calendar" and the "Forums"

We will go to the Green Door in Hampton Bays in time for breakfast. We will cover Dune Road either on the way or on the return. We stay together as a group but you will be able to go at your own pace on the dune road stretch and wait for the rest of us to catch up!
Check the evening before the ride for any updates.
on the Bike Path ;-) ... This ride will hopefully give you a taste of riding a bike path ... unfortunately we'll only do the 6+ miles on the path but there are "NO CAR BACKs!!" ... there are some road crossings and even a few hills on the Bike Path from Stony Brook to Port Jeff Station. The rest of the miles will be mostly flat. This ride will be a moderate B to fast B ride. Starting time of 8:30 AM to try to beat some of the heat. CHECK BACK FOR CHANGES TO THIS POSTING AFTER 7 AM ON DAY OF RIDE ... Weather may be a factor! If this ride is cancelled due to weather look for a repeat posting on Tuesday.
Oh yes, there will be hills! Rollers too, and some flat! Riders will be expected to ride single file. Wait ups as needed. Group will stay together. Break at Wildwood Deli.
Come along with Bruce as we will attempt to re-create Dave's new ride from three weeks ago. I have the route in my Garmin. Should be interesting. Bruce's cousin will be riding with us on Sunday August 17th and this is the ride I want to take her on. I will be posting a ride for that day.
Bring $$$ for snacks.
Hope to see you there.
Any changes OR cancellations will be posted by 7:00 AM
I tend to be long winded so click "read more" on the bottom for the entire post.- How about taking a ride to Great River today? We will go the usual route through Connetquot Park and then do a loop in Heckscher Park where one can stretch the legs a bit; this is not a pace line. The route is mostly flat with 2 little hills. The average pace for this ride will be between 14.5. & 15.0 mph; naturally the road speed will be slightly higher to produce the average. However, we will slow down for humidity and squirrels. We will be making a food/rest stop around Mile 20. Bring a chair and supplies if you want for the end of ride repair clinic.
Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations which will be posted no later than 7:30AM if necessary. My cell number is 631.484.3490; call anytime if you have questions about this ride or need directions to the start.
Take a 26 mile ride from Ronk RR to Corey Beach and then off to the Ecology Center. NO ONE LEFT BEHIND. Any cancellation by 8:30AM. Average pace will come in at 11-12.5MPH. We can stop at a deli if you want to pick up snacks to eat at the Ecology Center (or bring something with you). Special care taken for new riders. Carol, my Basil locker is FULL!
