NOTE:
Under the Ride Level details, the "Type: Road Bike" refers to the ride will be on paved roads (rather then off road trails). Although a Road Bike is suggested for Road Bike Type rides it is not required. Hybrid and mountain bikes can be used on these rides as well provided you are comfortable with the pace outline in the Posted Ride. This ride calendar is for club rides, club meetings, club event posts and shop rides only.
For Other Events in our area and off Long Island check out the "Other Rides & Events calendar" and the "Forums"

This was one of my favorite rides last year. It begins on the Grand Concourse around 161st St. I park my car on Randall's / Ward's Island and ride to the start. It ends at the Bronx Botanical Gardens and I city street my way back into Manhattan for a spin through Central Park before returning to the car.
It's 60+ miles with at least 2500ft of climbing.
The Tour of the Bronx is sponsored by Transportation Alternatives. You’ll need to sign up for the 40 mile route and it sells out every year. I recommend going to the web site and submitting your email to be notified when registration opens… which will be very soon.
October 26, 2014 9:00 AM (please check the ride calendar for each posted ride start time) PRICE: $10.00 per person (for members, $20 for non-members) Click here to view flyer for full details
This ride will be between 20-25 miles depending on wind, temp and tides. Sign up (from website) to join us for soup and sandwiches after the ride (or you could just do the ride for free). We will average 11-12.5MPH pace, depending on group. NOBODY LEFT BEHIND.Check website by 8:00AM for any cancellation of the ride, soup and sandwiches will still be a go at Noon.
Join me for a 20 mile Halloween Ride which will loop through Holbrook, down to Connetquot, through Ronkonkoma, back to the Ecology Center. This ride will have a C+ pace, with an average of 12.2 - 12.7, and there will be cue sheets. We will make a bathroom stop around the halfway point of the ride.
Please arrive at 8:30 so we will be ready to ride at 9:00. The "soup/lunch" should be ready for us when we get back. Remember that you must sign up and pay for the "soup/lunch" in advance - there are no "day-off" sign ups.
Join me for the SBRA annual Halloween ride. We will be going to North Great River using a slightly different route. The average pace for this ride will be between 14.8 and 15.0 mph. depending on wind and other conditions; ghostly disappearances don’t count. The road speed will be between 15 and 17 mph. If you want to wear a costume, well, that’s up to you. Just don’t let the goblins or your spokes grab it. We’ll be making a deli/bathroom/coffee/pee stop around mile 15 and then head back for some soup.
Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations which will be posted no later than 7:30AM if necessary. My cell phone number is 631-484-3490; call anytime if you have questions about this ride or need directions to the start.
This ride will be a low end B/B+ ride coming in around a 16.6-16-7 Average. So not a high end B/ B+ but somewhere in the middle. We need to get back for the Halloween festivities so breaks will be short and sweet! Feel free to dress up or wait until we get back to get in costume! You can still do the ride if you do not sign up to stay for soup. Come join us for some fun!
Ghostbusters!!! Ok everyone, not 100% on the route as of yet as we will look to see WITCH way the wind blows. Will probably lag behind another ride but fear not, it will be great. Feel free to wear a costume but be sure it is safe for riding. All are welcome on the ride even if you didn't register for the gathering after. I am on the easy side of things so this ride should come in around 14.5 - 15. No one left behind. There will be a short stop but don't fill up as you need room for soup and sandwiches (if you registered). Please arrive 20 minutes prior to the start time to allow for ample time to prep and ready to roll! Watch for Slimmer!
Any questions, call my cell at 631-767-3176. If there is an issue with the weather I will post no later than 7 am that morning.
Join me for a higher end b/b+ ride to ridge. We will be cruising the usual 17-20 and the average will depend on wind and group. You can then join your SBRA buddies for the Halloween festivities if your check is received by Oct. 20th (see Halloween flyer on website). Otherwise , you can still come out for the ride. Costumes are optional!
Ride out to Manorville, with a brief stop at McDonalds. Pace will be at the upper range of B+(18mph).
If ALL riders are capable the pace may be a little higher, but the group will stay together...If you want to go faster ride off the front. http://ridewithgps.com/routes/6324282
