Honest B pace. Dishonest riders welcome. If you like to play ditch the ride leader make sure you take a cue sheet. I will void the warranty on my new knees if I try to catch you when you make a wrong turn. ride to dune road via Remsenburg. Stop at deli/café on Shinnicock Ave
***Sorry I tried to hold out to see if it would rain and it did not disappoint. Rain just starting so I am going to cancel.
Ride out to Manorville at a 16-16.5 average. it will most likely be the low end of the range but to fair to the classifications I am posting a B/B+.
We will take turns pulling. Stop will be in Manorville around mile 23..
Come out to the East end and explore the coves, inlets and bays surrounding Shelter Island . There are great waterside views and scenic vistas on this fairly hilly and lightly traveled route. Keep in mind there will be frequent short ups and downs on Shelter Island. We will take the North ferry and ride the West perimeter of the Island followed by the causeways leading to the Ram Islands. Then our route is along Gardiner's Bay and Dering Harbor. Deli lunch back in Greenport followed by another 25 flat miles to Orient Point. Round trip fare for the ferry including your bike is $ 5.00 cash per person. Cue sheets for Shelter Island will be provided.
Finally back on the bike after the dastardly hip bursitis. This will be a leisurely ride with stops to see the sites and chat. Good for those who are coming back from an injury, just haven't been riding, or are just beginning. If you haven't been riding in a while don't forget to oil your chain. Bring water bottle, pump, tube, and tire tool.

How about going to Yaphank today? The average pace for the ride will be between 14.7 and 15.0 mph +/- depending on the wind direction and other factors which could put the ride in the lower part of a "B"; you know how I ride The road speed on this ride will be between 15.0 and 17 mph. There are a few places along the route where a paceline can be started for those who wish. Around mile 19 there will be a bathroom/deli stop.
