Ride the rolling hills to Port Jefferson with deli/McDonalds stop in PJ. Some rolling hills getting out of Port Jefferson and through SUNY Stony Brook campus, then mostly flat ride back to Commack. No go in rain
Join me for an early morning ride from Ronkonkoma to East Islip. We will take a short break at the Timber Point Golf Course, where we can use the facilities, grab a coffee/beverage/snack, and look out at the Great South Bay. This is a structured C+ ride which will average 12.2 - 12.8 (depending on the wind, etc.), with cue sheets. PLEASE NOTE: This ride leaves from the NORTH side of the RR Tracks and we are meeting in the parking lot EAST of the train station. Cell phone: 631-523-2129.
Sunshine to Manorville ride. We will stop in Mcdonalds at around mile 23 for a break rest and food break. Everyone stays together and we all take turns pulling the ride. This will be a 16-16.5 avg ride.
This will be a structured B+ ride where group rides together. If you are looking for a fast B+ ride or ride off the front of the group this ride is not for you.
We'll head to Shoreham for a view of the harbor. While this is mostly a flat and rolling route (eg: Whiskey Road), the ride from the bluff does have a few hills to climb. Will have wait ups as needed. Pace will be at the higher end of B- (14.5 to 15 mph, coasting will be higher). Bring snacks for the harbor view and/or quick stop at bagel shop as needed.
Please check back here for any changes to the ride by 7am on Saturday morning.
Easy B- to Southold with a break at deli in Cutchogue. If the weather hold off and the group agrees, maybe we'll add a reverse tank loop making it a 46 mile. I haven't biked much lately so we'll see how it goes. Any change by 8 am. My cell 646-643-6856
Park south of Wendy's. We will head north and have a break at the bean and bagel. Speed will be 15-18mph. No one left behind. Maybe a couple of extra miles if the whole group wants too.
Let’s take a scenic ride through Eastport, Remsenburg and Westhampton Beach. The average pace will be between 14.4 and 15.0 mph. depending on the wind, road conditions, geese, ducks, squirrels, rabbits and that stray goat you see every once in awhile. 14.7 to 15.0 mph +/ depending on the roads, wind direction and other conditions which could put the ride in the lower part of a "B". Naturally, the road speed will be higher (15 -17 mph.) to produce the average. There will be the usual spots for leg stretches. Around mile 22 we’ll stop at the Beach Bakery for some goodies and a bathroom break before heading back to the start.
My cell number is 631.484.3490; call anytime if you have questions about this ride or need directions to the start. Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations which will be posted no later than 7:30am if necessary.
Do the loop at a 11-12.7 pace depending on wind, tide, position of moon and slowest rider. Newbies always welcome. Any cancellation by 8:30AM. Put down the remote and get off the couch! Yes, I'm talking to you! You can get pie at Briermere's, see the Buffalos with the holes and get a bagel at our bagel stop. What more could you ask for? Better yet, don't ask for anything because you're not getting it. You ask, what are the Buffalo with the holes - They're the ones where they get the burgers from.
PARK IN THE KING KULLEN SHOPPING CENTER, ALONG THE DRIVEWAY BEHIND THE 7-11 OR IN THE FIRST ROW ADJACENT TO THE DRIVEWAY, JUST DOWN FROM McDONALD'S.

Optional post ride meal @ Crabby Jerry's on the Greenport wharf. Joint listing with the NYCC. Cue sheets will be provided.

Don't waste your summer going from a couch potato to a BAKED POTATO. Instead come on this ride and after we ride have dinner and get a baked potato w/your steak. Ride approx 23 miles (depending on wind, tide and riders ability) at a 11-12.5MPH pace through Area 51 and Manorville. Nobody left behind and Newbies always welcome. Management has asked we park behind the restaurant near the barn in the dirt lot. Of course, leaf eaters are also welcome.
