NOTE:
Under the Ride Level details, the "Type: Road Bike" refers to the ride will be on paved roads (rather then off road trails). Although a Road Bike is suggested for Road Bike Type rides it is not required. Hybrid and mountain bikes can be used on these rides as well provided you are comfortable with the pace outline in the Posted Ride. This ride calendar is for club rides, club meetings, club event posts and shop rides only.
For Other Events in our area and off Long Island check out the "Other Rides & Events calendar" and the "Forums"

I've moved the start to 8:15 (since other rides are also leaving from here that morning) and the location to the Manorville KK lot-park lot. I HAVE ALSO CHANGED THE ROUTE TO AVOID MOST OF OF THE HILLS. Check back here for any changes.
I am posting this as a B- because I have been coming in at a high C+/B- or a low B-. We will still do B- on the flats and wait-ups as necessary on the hills.
The "Plus" will be a 3 mile flat loop to the beach. No optional hilly loop at this time as the basic Slow Hills has enough hills for now. Hills 101. We'll do B- on the flats and whatever we individually can on the hills. No need to keep up on hills; wait-ups as necessary. Stop halfway at the lighthouse in Old Field; bring a snack -- no bathroom there. There is a bathroom at the beach. Cancellation or change if needed by 7:30AM. Cell day of ride only, please:631-835-1454
I thought we would change it up this week go to Middle Island today. We will get there using The Bartletts or Ashton. The average pace for the ride will be between 14.8 and 15.0 mph +/- depending on the roads, wind direction and other conditions which could put the ride in the lower part of a "B". The road speed will be between 15 and 17 mph. Around mile 12 we’re going to stop at the senior citizen discount bagel shop or the deli. There are a few places along the route where a paceline or leg stretches can be done for those who wish.
Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations which will be posted no later than 7:30AM, if necessary. My cell number is 631.484.3490; call anytime if you have questions about this ride or need directions to the start.
This is my usual hilly ride through Stony Brook, Setauket, Poquot and Old Field.
We'll cruise in the high teens and low 20's. Hills will slow us to a B classification. Average will come in between 15.5 to 16.0. Some pacelining where appropriate. Faster riders, with knowlege of route, will be free to break away at times.
Ride through the area around East Islip south of Montauk Hwy and Islip along Union Blvd. Depending on wind, tide and temps we may do a loop or two on the bike path in Heckscher Park and/or a loop down to Islip Beach. Cancellation for any reason will be posted no later than 4PM on Tuesday. Newbies always welcome. Pace should come in around 11-12.6MPH. No one left behind. Get off your Butt and get some exercise. Mileage depends on groups ability.
Sunshine to Smith Point Beach and back, we will stop at 7/11 if anyone needs a drink or snack..pace will be between 15-17..any questions about this ride call my cell..631-882-4366
