Hybrid and mountain bikes can be used on these rides as well provided you are comfortable with the pace outline in the Posted Ride. Kreb Cycle in Eastport is now open and its awesome! Come check it out! We will start this Saturday ride at the shop at 8am. It is an A ride, which is a 52 mile loop down Dune road, with one brief stop in Southampton at Ye Olde Bake Shoppe (cash only), then back to Eastport via Red Creek, Pleasure drive, 51. Our average speed has been coming in between 21.5-22.5mph.
We are heading to Netties (primary route) or Smith Point, largely depends on the wind at an 11-12.5 pace for 22-26 miles. Either way there will be a food and bathroom stop. Check back here for any changes which will be before 7:30am. As always newbies well taken care of and nobody gets left behind. Also bring water and a snack as route depends on wind, tide, position of moon and ride leaders disposition.
We will be doing a scenic ride through Eastport, Remsenburg and Westhampton Beach. The average pace will be between 14.9 and 15.0 mph. +/- depending on the wind, road conditions, geese, ducks, squirrels, and rabbits. Road speed will be between 15 & 17 mph. We might end up with an extra mile or two, but that's it. Pulling is always appreciated. There will be a short break-a-way along Dune Road; we will not be going to the big bridge. Around mile 25/27 we’ll stop at the Beach Bakery for some goodies and a bathroom break before heading back to the start.
The average pace for the ride will be between 14.9 to 15.0 mph +/- depending on the roads, wind direction, rider ability, tailwinds, downhills, break-a-ways and other conditions. All of these conditions could change the final average one way or the other. Naturally, the road speed will be higher (15 -17 mph.) to produce the average.
Any cancellation due to weather, or any other circumstance will be posted no later than 0715 if necessary. If you have question about the ride just text me at 631.484.3490. Eventually my phone and I will meet in a reasonable amount of time...
We will do our usual ride from Sunshine to Manorville for a Bagel break. The ride will be our usual B- 15mph average possibily slightly higher. Please join me for this ride, we will take turns pulling. Of course those that are shy no worries, it is voluntary taking turns pulling. No pressure.
Please check ride calendar morning of ride. Any cancellations will be posted by 7:15.
May shorten the ride on the way back from Netties because of the heat? This will be a slow C+ because of the heat and humidity, there are bathrooms available, as well as tasty delights no one left behind ever! Questions call or text cell phone 631-484-1650
