We will be leaving Bank of America and head to Great River and East Islip for a 21 mile ride. The ride will be at a B- pace with an average speed of around 14.5 to 15mph and road speeds that will reach 16 to 18 mph.

This ride has been delayed until Wednesday due to how much precipation we got on Sunday & Monday. Remember to check back to this posting before leaving for the ride.
BSP has a good single track for Begineers and Intermediate riders. With the strong winds we have had there may be some clearing work to be done as we ride. First time here this season so we'll not be pushing the pace and do waitups at the fire road crossings. No one gets left behind in the woods!
We'll head north from the parking lot entrance and swing around to the south upto Rt25.
No need to arrive 20 minutes early and cook in the car or freeze outside ... Please just be ready to ride at the posted start time! Running late? Call my cell # below and we'll wait a bit.
Check back to this posting a Life Happens and Things Change!
We all know what this ride is about; burger and a beer $6.00. Tacos $1.00 and half price beer; if you can’t make the ride, stop in and join us for the eats. We will be back around 3:30pm. Ok, now let’s talk about the ride.
We’ll be going to the Yaphank area, the Patchogue area, or the Holbrook area. It all depends on the riders and the wind. Most riders like the LI Avenue run, so if possible that will be choice one. The average will be about 14.5 to 15 mph+/-naturally the road speed will be higher; between 15.0 and 17.0 with the wind at your back.
Note: the ride starts at Rudi’s. I have spoken with the owner and parking will be allowed on Wednesdays. Please park along the west, east & south sides of the parking lot. DON’TPARK in reserved spaces or, the NORTH side of the parking lot
I know this is a new ride start location. Click on Rudi’s above and then click Google Maps. This is a funny time of the year, with unpredictable weather and winds; I will try to pick roads that work out best for the current day’s condition. Be prepared for route changes at the last minute which will be beneficial for you, and the ride. With that being said, please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations which will be posted no later than noon if necessary. All members are welcome. New members are encouraged to attend.
Thursday, December 5 - SBRA Holiday Social Meeting There will be a very short meeting (if any), then holiday snacks, beverages, coffee and socialize with your SBRA friends. And this year, wear your "Ugly holiday sweater" if you have one!
Also, this will be our last collection of food donations this year for Long Island Cares, the Harry Chapin Food Bank. We are very close to our goal and hope you can help by bringing a can or two with you to the meeting. Click here for information about what food they need.
Slight chance of light snow is forecast ... we'll adjust the route based upon the precip as it's no fun rolling across wet logs!!
Also, the Class of this ride may be adjusted to Multi-Level if faster riders commit to showing I'll be changing the Classification and I'll be riding slower.
We won't be doing the entire trail but we'll definitely do the Rock Garden (there's an easy go around if you want to skip) and Wild Turkey loop ... we'll include BD#4 (Wish You Were Here) with the offset downhill logs.
If you're a Begineer or Intermediate rider then come along anyway ... CLIMB designed Overton with a main loop with the Black Diamonds as loops off the Main (Blue) trail ... you can always do a wait up.
The trail is pretty wide and ticks will not be a problem unless you dive into the bush ... Also, I will have bug spray available before the ride if you ask for it. Hopefully the Rt112 metal crusher and Mill Rd. compost machines will be quite ;-).
Check back to this posting early Friday morning ... as Life Happens and Things Change.
Also, NO need to arrive 20 minutes early and over heat in the car or freeze outside ... just arrive in time to get ready to leave at the posted Start Time.
It will be cold at the start so please dress appropriately, you will warmup while riding ... hand warmers are suggested for better control.
Lots of folks avoid East Setauket as it has a good deal of technical and hilly sections BUT there are also milder single track sections that many riders can handle when keeping the speed down. Come along and I will be more than willing to wait if you want to walk any section that you feel is above you pay grade!
Lots of the trail is pretty wide and ticks will not be a problem unless you dive into the bush ... Also, I will have bug spray available before the ride.
For faster and more skilled riders please look at the ride level ... IF a faster rider contacts me I will modify the Ride Classification to Multi-Level ... Otherwise you will be out ahead of the group I lead that will go at the slowest rider's pace. No one will be left behind in the woods!
Check back to this posting early Saturday morning ... as Life Happens and Things Change.
Also, No need to arrive 20 minutes early and cook in the car or freeze waiting to ride ... just be there in time to start at th posted Ride Start time.

On the return, we'll ride along some sheltered roads to get of the wind, including Middle Road and Deep Hole. It will be much more fun than sitting in the gym!
We will be leaving Bank of American in East Islip heading to Great River and East Islip area. Then we will head to Bohemia and stopping at McDonalds around mile 23 for our break. Any questions call Mike at 516 448-8545

Join me for this ride from Bellport to Blue Point, where we will do some dips and loops into residential areas, and take our break at the deli on Atlantic Avenue.
This is now a C ride, which will average 11.3 - 12.0 (depending on the riders & the wind), with cue sheets, and no one will be left behind.
About 2 hours of steady hills at around 3W/kg. Download the route below, stay with the group, or you will get lost. If you want to charge ahead of the group, you're on your own.
BSP has a good single track for Begineers and Intermediate riders. With the strong winds we have had there may be some clearing work to be done as we ride but Lenny P. has been in there with a chain saw and done lots of the big clearing.
Park in the south-west corner of the high school/library lot where the exercise path begins.

Today's’ route to Great River will change up a bit towards the end of the ride, if the wind is in our favor; making this route pretty flat except for 2 overpasses. We will go the usual route heading south using the Connetquot Park bike bath. We’ll work our way down to Heckscher Park, do a loop where one can stretch the legs a bit if desired. The average pace for this ride will be between 14.5 & 15.0 +/- mph, or what conditions allow. The road speed will be between 15 and 17.0 mph, or slower if needed for safety concerns.

This will be an easy B+/A- ride... just looking to get out there - not to race. Would love for you to join... pace will be between 18-22mph (except hills and winds of course). Go at your own pace up 51 and we'll wait at the light (or maybe you'll be waiting for me). Feel free to sprint on 111 and we'll re-group at Halsey Manor.
COME ON THIS 15-20 MILE RIDE AT A 10.6-11.6 PACE. Newbies always welcome and well taken care of. PARK ON SOUTH SIDE OF RR IN LOT ACROSS FROM SCHOOL.
Endurance paced ride. Minimal Stops, one quick nature break, bring two water bottles if needed. My Pulls will be at less than 225W on the flats, and less than 3W/kg on the climbs. If you want to go harder than that, or if you want to go charging up ahead on every hill, then this is the wrong ride for you.
Let's beat the rain ... we'll do everything as we head north towards the tanks ... If you want to skip the initial alley-oops and meet up at the top of the hill then let me know so we can be on the look out for you.

Join me for a leisurely ride along the backroads of Manorville. We'll make a rest/snack stop at either McDonalds in Manorville or Bean and Bagel in Calverton (group decides). In the event of ride cancellation due to inclement weather, we can meet for breakfast at Bean and Bagel at 10am. Any change will be posted by 8am. Call me at 631 846-7825 if you have any questions.
Weather too uncertain. Let's meet for coffee at Bean abd Bagel at 10am.
Its going to be windy so we will take it easy as we head into Babylon. We will have our food break at the deli by the docks. The wind should be with us on the way back. I will do the loop around the lakes in Brightwaters as we head back to Eastislip. No one will be dropped .
OK, we're all slaves to the rhythm of the roads, we have to keep those wheels spinning around. So let's saddle-up and spin out to Riverhead, where at around the 15.5 mile point, we'll stop for some of those round bready things. After a quick break, we'll hit some rolling terrain to warm back up!
Hey, we'll make even more attractive: we've dropped the pace down a bit!
I am planning to be out at the start by 9 AM and expecting to ride ... riding the trail will be slower dependant on the ground cover in specific areas. If I find the trail un-ridable I will head west to Brookhaven State Park on Wlm Floyd and ride the trail there.
This ride may be cancelled due to the rain but note that the Ride Start has been delayed to 9:10 as Ron's ride will be starting at 9:15 and they WILL catch us ... hopefully we make it to Terrapin Rock before they do!

I've attached the CLIMB map which I annotated with a grid and trail section names ... we'll be doing the Blue trail ... if you print out the map please let me know if it's wothwhile.
Also, Best to park in the second lot as there's a lot more room. It won't be that cold but the wind will be whipp'n on the open parking lot so no need to arrive 20 minutes early and cook in the car or freeze waiting to ride ... just be there in time to start at the posted Ride Start time.
NOTE: If it’s windy on Sunday the ride could be shortened. The group decides.

If you're a Begineer or Intermediate rider then come along anyway ... CLIMB designed Overton with a main loop with the Black Diamonds as loops off the Main (Blue) trail ... you can always do a wait up or some of the easier BDs.
Hopefully the Rt112 metal crusher and Mill Rd. compost machines will be quite ;-).
Check back to this posting early Friday morning ... as Life Happens and Things Change.
Also, NO need to arrive 20 minutes early and over heat in the car or freeze outside ... just arrive in time to get ready to leave at the posted Start Time ... If you're running late just call my cell and we'll wait a bit.
This will be a long steady endurance paced ride. The longest in quite a while for many of you so I will keep my pulls at less than 200W. Bathroom break at Mile 22. Water break midway in Hampton Bays. Please review and download the route.
The Executive Board Meeting will by held at Panera Bread in Bohemia at 6:30 pm.
All members are welcome to come. If a member has business they would like to discuss at the board meeting, please contact Jeff Meyer VP so the board can be preparded to address their topic of discussion. Any vote taken at a board meeting are by board members only.
As always please make sure your bike is in good working order, tires are in good shape, you have the nutrition you need and arrive 20 min before ride start.
Shop will be open for anyone who needs the bathroom.
park in the lot across from Kreb (don't accidentally go with the A- riders!) for a short easy ride to Patchogue. Check back for any cancellation or changes which would be made by 7 am.
All right, so Briermere is closed until Spring, so we'll have to have an another destination! So, this time we'll be hitting some rolling terrain to warmup, before we head out to Riverhead for a bagel stop.
It's that time of year, where we want to keep everyone together, so remember to control your pace! Santa is still around and remembers your behavior, so be good: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fPPCPqDINEk
We'll be rocking our way along Route 24 to Riverhead, and we'll then return on the rolling terrain heading to Deep Hole. So, let's plan on working together on the rolling terrain, and try not to be an ugly mob dropping people... As described by Lonesome George and the Destroyers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oA3-InoYsWQ
Leaving Calverton and heading to MRB for a brief stop. This ride avoids 51 and 111. I will be riding in the A- range so don't chase if you don't want to get dropped.
We will ride around Belmont State Park Lake then taking the trail down to Babylon town dock. The trail can accommodate fat tire, mountain and cross bikes. Short hydration break at the dock or we can stop at the Delica Sea deli just before the dock if needed.
The pace is as fast as the slowest rider. Note- The route includes both trail and on road riding.
Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations, which will be posted no later than 8:00am if necessary. My cell is 347-677-4164; call or text if you have questions about the ride or need directions to the start location. DN
Join me for my Birthday ride from Bellport to Blue Point, where we will do some dips and loops into residential areas, and take our break at the deli on Atlantic Avenue.
This is a C+ ride, which will average 12.2 - 12.8 (depending on the riders & the wind), and no one will be left behind.
his morning it might be nice to take a ride through Bellport and Patchogue stopping for a break at Mickey D’s around mile 20. The average pace will be between 14.0 to 15.0 mph depending on the roads, wind direction, dew point, and other conditions. Naturally, the road speed will be higher (15 -16.5 mph.) to produce the average. Depending on the wind and the route back we might be +/- a mile.
Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations which will be posted no later than 8:00am if necessary. My cell phone number is 631-484-3490; call or text anytime if you have questions about this ride.
Join me for a B- pace ride from the Oakdale RR station to Bellport Village. We will have our break at the Bellport Deli, or if someone has another new suggestion we can try it out. Lets meet at Glacier Ridge to do the Main trail maybe two times and the easier diamonds including County Rd 83 N & S, Hunter and Ghost. We will do wait ups along the way as needed. Please bring water and snacks as needed. Camelbacks work best for hydration. Remember its warmer in the woods. We will park about 5/6 rows in from end in order to locate our group as parking lot can be crowded. any questions call my cell before 9 pm or after 8 am.
The weekend is best for this place as getting there is not a bad commute. There will be some mud ... esp. between BD5 and 5A.
We'll limit the BDs but include the long half pipe and the climb up to and along the old RR tracks. Will try to save enough energy to do #12 loop. The pace will be slow but the technical aspect of riding planned for this venue is Intermediate to Advanced. There might be some exploring on this ride as not all the loops off the main have clear markings.
Here Comes 2020! All right, let's close out this decade with a fun ride. We'll meet-up with the other groups at the Holtsville Ecology Park and head out to Manorville on an old school style ride. We'll revisit some of the great routes and ride leaders like: Al and Mary Frey, Pete and Lil, Vinny Attisano (Nick's dad), the Mariner, Bob Fountain and Al Kelly.
We'll revisit some of the roads, that we followed so many times in the past. We'll head up to Granny Road and then descend Mill Road, past the Mariner's epic fixed gear skid, then pass the Yaphank Deli (where the Early Birds used to ride from), pop up the RxR bump and make our way to the Manorville stop.
On the return we'll visit Pete's Hill / the Hot Dog Truck Hill, Long Island Avenue and Lil's Mean Bump! (Did we really climb those hills with seven-speeds and down tube shifters!).
Once we're back, we can meet with the other groups and tell a few tall stories of the good old days...

I am posting this ride as a B/B+ because i have not been on a bike in a month and don't know how i will be riding or what the weather will be. Most likely this will be a low B/B+ (16 average) Ron organizses thiis New Years ride and Food Drive every year so I hope you can come out and drop off food even if you don't want to do the ride. This is also a Tail Gate ride so please bring snacks for after the ride to share with your fellow riders if you plan on staying after the ride.
Please note that I will cancel the ride if the temp is in the 30's or if the wind chill is in the freezing temps so please check the morning of the ride for any updates.
See Joanna's and Ron’s posting for details about the tail gate party and food donations.
I’m not sure of the route. It all depends on the wind and the temperature. We will either go to Patchogue, Great River, or Manorville.
The average pace for this ride will be between 14.0 & 15.0 +/- mph, or what conditions allow. The road speed will be between 15 and 16.0 mph, or slower if needed for safety concerns.
Any cancellations due to unforeseeable circumstances, or weather related problems will be posted by 8:00am. If you have any questions about this ride, or the start location, please call or text my cell, 631-484-3490.

This will be a C+ ride from Yaphank to Bellport (direction could be changed due to the prevailing winds, etc.). There will be a break & bathroom stop wherever we go.
This is a structured ride which will average 12.4 - 12.9.

Let's see how I do replicating Joe's Tuesday night ride... one thing is for sure, I have some big shoes to fill! Feel free to bring your hybrid on this one, because we'll be keeping the average speed between 14-16 mph to finish with an average of 13-14 mph.
There won't be a deli stop so bring enough snacks and water to stay hydrated. I'm hoping the restrooms in the park will be open, if not, we'll find somewhere to stop along the way. If possible, let's go for pizza after the ride...
Feel free to text any questions about this ride post to 631-521-0688.
Any cancellations/changes will be made prior to 7:00 AM the morning of the ride.
