Note: Venue may change if Ride Start at Overton is too wet or muddy!!! Decision at 9 AM
Note: the 'B' pace indicated is not the speed we'll be riding in the woods but indicates the technical skill level of this Mtn Bike ride.
You only hear the wind in the woods ... I plan to do BDs Rt112 loop, 2, 4 & 6 BUT I will adjust the ride for the slowest/less technical rider ... otherwise the other BDs and DBDs are in play. I may skip a diamond and do a waitup if stronger riders show.
If you plan to do my ride and contact me by texting to 631-988-6557. If you don't contact me and the rest of us are ready to roll I may leave a few minutes earlier than the posted time.
DRIVE CAREFULLY! If you're running late text me and I will wait a few extra minutes.
Check back to this posting regardless ... Life Happens and Things Change!
Briermere is open for the season, so let's hope the weather gives us a decent temperature to ride. But, just in case, we'll ride a shorter route to Briermere and we'll make the stop quick so we don't get cold! So, first chance this season to get a coffee, some pie or a scone from Briermere !
We'll make this ride simple: outbound we'll hit Line Road and Deep Hole and then we'll head out through the farm fields. The return will take us back through the fields, so be ready to paceline into the winds!
After a Great first Run at it. The Firehouse 44 returns for another week. Let's keep the turn out solid. This will now be an A- pace since it's a fast Route. We will stop at mile 27 Gas Station for brief Snack and bathroom Break. You will be able to breakaway down on Burman BLVD wait up at end of Burman for ReGroup. Last week we finished at 20MPH.
Today's’ route to Great River will change up a bit towards the end of the ride - if the wind is in our favor; making this route pretty flat except for 2 overpasses. We will go the usual route heading south using the Connetquot Park bike bath. We’ll work our way down to Heckscher Park, do a loop where one can stretch the legs a bit if desired. Pulling is appreciated! I would like to keep the road speed between 15 & 16mph and come in at an average between 14 and 15mph.

Slightly longer M.O.M ride where I am adding 1 -2 miles on towards the end. The map below does not reflect the change in the route but I will discuss it before the start: taking David Terry Rd as usual (heading north) but instead of taking Line Rd we will continue up to Wading River Manor to Grumman Blvd., then the usual route back. This gets us over 40 miles.
We will gather at Holy Cross Lutheran Church Monday April 3rd at 9:30am where we will greet the Funeral Cortege as they enter the Church. At the conclusion of the service, we will escort Elaine to her final resting place New Ronkonkoma Cemetery 671 Hawkins Avenue. Please check back for any changes by Sunday. Actual distance is < 1 mile.
I'm not fit enough for the Joe B ride yet so this will be at a slower pace and a bit shorter so we can meet up at Panera bread. Our aaverage will probably be in the mid to high range of the C+/B- depending on the riders.
Stomach bug going thru my house. Off to Shinnecock Inlet, with bathroom stops at miles 10, 27 and 30. The ride has about 15 miles on Dune Road, and predicted winds will be light. If the winds become stronger, mileage on Dune Road will be decreased, and we will do a Quogue Meander with about 32 miles total. Bring snacks and drinks for rest stops, and we will go to a pocket park in Westhampton Beach (7 miles prior to end of ride) for a longer stop, near a bakery and 7-11. My ride saw the Bison last week, but they were in a distant field so I hope they are in a field closer to the road this week. Briermere's has pies and individual baked goods, as well as hot drinks. If the picnic tables are not out yet, there are large rocks that we can sit on. Restrooms are available. If you wish to share a pie, bring small bills and change. This is my first ride of the year so although I posted B/B+ i Iwould think I am a tad rusty and will most likely come in at the low end of a B/B+. Today is just about being on the bike, enjoying the day and being thankful.
The Lake Tour Ride is a B+/A- ride, cruising at 19-22 and averaging 19ish for 40 miles.
The ride has been extended by a mile or so near the end so riders can say "yeah, I did a 40 mile ride today", instead of a measly 39. So we will ride past Line Rd and continue up to Grumman Blvd via Wading River Manor Rd where we will then take a right turn and ride to Burman Rd through the Grumman Complex. Burman Rd will be a timed segment (North and South) so go for it there but wait for me at the end. There may be other timed segments as wind permits. See link below for the route.

For this ride, we'll leave from Southaven Park and ride out to Riverhead. This time we'll add a couple of miles to keep it interesting! Getting back to riding after being off a bike for 5 months is not as easy as it seems. Time to dust-off that bike and get ready to ride the Orient Century, Thunderbirds style ! If you are a B/B+ rider or a B+ rider getting ready for the season, come on out and ride. IF I have a good turnout, we'll keep this series going, with us adding miles every week. The starting location will vary throughout the series, so make sure to read the narratives for each ride.

Beginner hill training. A very scenic route. Due to the many turns/dead ends, and rolling hills plus real hills this will be a C+/B- but with a B- effort.
Please park at the back left hand side of the car park. The library is not open until 9:30 so no bathrooms will be available until we have explored Strongs Neck, if necessary we can have a quick stop at the library to use it's facilities.

More miles = more smiles. This week we will be adding a few more miles, after the break at the bagel shop in Riverhead.
The pace on this ride has lately been on the higher end of the B/B+ range, as everyone is getting stronger. Still, we won't leave anyone on their own on this ride.

Not particularly hilly, not entirely flat, not really rolling, mostly some north shore upgrades and pretty Belle Terre scenery. There is an optional hill which others can avoid by meeting at the top of the hill via a flat route.

Note: Ride START corrected to WESTERN end of Greenway on RT 25A Setauket ...
It will be a slow ride as it's early in the year for 1500 feet of climbing (distance and ascent does NOT include end of ride bonus hill of Thompson Hay Path). The last time I did this ride I finished with 12.5 mph. I will gladly slow it down on the hills to have a finishing pace may be more like a C ride. I stop at the top of some of the hills to regain a normal heart rate ;-) .
Off to Briermere's, with a brief stop to view the Bison if they are in a field near the road. Briermere's has individual baked goods, as well as pies, and hot and cold drinks. Indoor bathrooms are available, as well as porta-potties. If you are interested in sharing the cost of a pie, and there are enough pie eaters on the ride, bring money. to join this ride, text Bill G. at 631-356-3036 with your full name and date of the ride.
Increasing our distance. This will be a B-ride, trying to keep a cruising speed between 16 and 17mph. A scenic ride so there will be stops to look at the views! This ride is not a race.
No bathrooms at start but we will stop at veterans beach (1.5miles) to use their facilities. There is a deli at mile 24 in Southold where we will stop for a break/early lunch/late coffee. At the end we can visit the ice cream shop for a reward - they open at noon.
If all goes well (no flats etc) we should be back between 1:00 and 1:30 - no guarantees though, as it might be so nice out that we want to hang around at the lighthouse and/or beach.
SORRY, BUT THE RIDE IS FULL AS OF 8:30 PM ON THURSDAY.
Join me for this late morning C ride around Center Moriches, to our break at Nettie's. This is a modified route to keep out of any winds that may crop up, and we will average 11.0 - 11.5. There are some very nice water views along the way. No one gets dropped and we will be observing spacing rules, etc. Since the exact route will be determined as we go along, there will not be a cue sheet.
Please text me to let me know you are joining the ride.
Riders should arrive at least 15 minutes before the ride start, to allow enough time for me to get everyone signed in and to "get yourself" ready.

It will be a SLOW ride up the hills as it's early in the year for 1900+ feet of climbing. I've posted a C but the effort will be a B+ ;-). I hope the finishing pace may be more like a C+ ride but will go as slow as necessary for anyone who shows up to suffer with me.
