NOTE: Due to a conflict in my schedule most, if not all, of the training rides will be moved to Sunday and replaced with a shorter ride (Great River 28) on Saturday. Please check the schedule
This will be the start of the SEAGULL CENTURY training rides. You DO NOT have to be doing the century to go on any of these rides. The first ride will be about 35 miles since we all should be capable of doing this distance by now. Each week the ride will increase by 5 miles. By the time all training rides are completed I’m sure we will be able to do an easy 100 on a flat course, in Maryland, at a B pace in order to enjoy the ride and scenery. We will take turns at the front, this way you can enjoy the wind in your face and be the first to smell the roses, or the road kill.
Today’s route will take us to Ridge The average pace for the ride will be between 14.7 and 15 mph +/- Depending on the wind, road conditions, the dew point, and the group. Naturally the road speed will be slightly higher (15-17) to produce the average. Around mile 18 or so we’ll make a pit stop; you can go to Mickey D’s or the deli. There will be few long spots where one can stretch the legs if desired, working off any extra calories gained at the rest stop.
Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations which will be posted no later than 7:30AM if necessary. My cell number is 631.484.3490; call anytime if you have questions about this ride or need directions to the start.
