Details (RL read field instructions carefully):
This is number 6 of the SEAGULL CENTURY training rides. You DO NOT have to be doing the century to go on any of these rides. We might be better off going up North since this Labor Day weekend might be crazy out on the East end. This week’s ride will be about 61 miles. Last week everyone did great; give yourself a pat on the back. We shall continue to build up our endurance slowly without killing ourselves, just pushing for a little more mileage. Today’s route will start out in Holbrook working our way up through Manorville into Calverton. Around mile 26 there will be a stop at Bean & Bagel for food and the necessary bodily functions. Then we work our way back to Holbrook with another pee/rest stop around mile 46; no food stop. The average pace for this ride will be between 14.9 & 15.3 mph (you’ve done it before) +/-, depending on the wind and other factors which could change the average. The road speed will be 15-17.5 mph to produce the average. There will be a leg stretch here and there for those who desire.
Be sure you bring water and something with electrolytes in it. Supplies after the ride; could be! It’s my understanding that our resident baker, Lynn will have a well deserved surprise for us.
Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations which will be posted no later than 6:30AM if necessary. My cell number is 631.484.3490; call anytime if you have questions about this ride.
