Details (RL read field instructions carefully):
I'm sorry, too exhausting to do the entire trail. Maybe a fat bike could handle it but I'm canceling my Skinny Boy Mtn bike ride… Take a look at the picture.
I took a short walk on the trail aT noon today ... it looks like it would have been a tough ride for a Skinny Boy Mtn Bike today and maybe a Fat Tire would work. Depending on the amount of snow that falls on the trail tonight (and temps) I will cancel the ride WHEN I'M AT THE TRAILHEAD TOMORROW MORNING @ 9 AM. If you join me at the 9:30 ride start I would suggest bringing X-Cty skis in case I cancel. We may be able to ride on the bike path across Rt 25 OR on the fire roads at BSP or fireroads of Shoreham north (it had lots of dirt showing at the road crossing today after noon time). IF YOU ARE COMING TO THE RIDE START AND NEED A FEW MORE MINUTES AFTER 9:30am THEN CALL ME AT 631-988-6557.
Stated otherwise, "Are You Crazy?" there's a chance of snow forecast in the early hours of Saturday. If the snow does not materialize then we'll take a spin in the woods. Hand/Foot warmers and balaquva are welcomed and mulitple layers suggested. It will be approximtely 12F (4F wind chill) so think WARM! If the woods are no good I'm not sure I will do the road as we did on Souper Bowl Sunday. Note: I'd rather be riding on Sunday but I'd really be feeling "the chill" if I left early that day.
The B/B+ classification is not a measure of the speed of the ride but the effort required in the woods. No one gets left behind in the woods.
PLEASE check back to this posting before and also on the "day of" before leaving for the ride start. Subscribe to this ride and receive any weather related cancellation updates. The ride start time and/or venue may be changed..
No need to be at the ride start 20 minutes early and overheat in the car ... please just be there in time to be redy to leave at the posted start time.
