This Memorial Day, as we gather with friends and loved ones, let us pay tribute to our service men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect and serve our nation.

The first Memorial Day was held 150 years ago in Waterloo, New York to commemorate what millions of soldiers had endured to preserve our Union’s values during the Civil War. Today Waterloo is home to the National Memorial Day Museum, a landmark you can visit to learn the meaningful history of this day.

It is because of those who selflessly answer the call of duty – and the commitment of their families – that our nation is stronger and remains a beacon of freedom throughout the world.
