The important stuff…
The start is at The Holbrook Commons which is ¼ mile south of the Holbrook Country Club. Please park at the south east end of the shopping center across from Tutor Time. After the ride Gerardo and Martha have graciously invited us back to Senor Taco for a little snack.
If possible I would like our group to meet at 6:30am, October 8, on Bateman Street; the starting point of The Seagull Century. If you are doing the Assateague route, or any others a map, and a que sheet can be found at this link in the left column http://seagullcentury.org/
The Kick-Off Party begins Friday October 7 from 4-7pm at the Perdue lawn. We can meet there as well and talk about the meeting spot for Saturday. The ride to the campus will take between 5 to 5 1/2 hours without traffic.
The last training ride… If rain is predicted for Sunday this training ride will be moved to Saturday
It would be helpful for me at this point in the training that we take some turns pulling. I do appreciate those who pulled last week. Thanks!!
It will be the same as training ride 6. However I will try to shave off 2 or 3 miles; then again, maybe not.
For The Seagull 6 training ride the route will take us up to the Calverton, Riverhead area using Woodside, Sills, North, Grumman and onward. We won’t do Boy Scout hill this week. The first stop will be around mile 26 at Bean & Bagel. After that, we work our way northeast in search of the buffalo. Then we’ll start our way back. The route back will go words Manorville and on to Holbrook. The second stop will be around mile 50 at, what else; McDonalds. The average pace for the ride will be between 14.5 to 15.0 mph, depending on the roads, wind direction, and the group. The road speed will be between 15 and 16.5 mph. faster downhill, slower uphill. If it’s needed we can make another pee stop around mile 60.
Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations which will be posted no later than 7:30 AM if necessary. My cell number is 631.484.3490; call anytime if you have questions about this ride or need directions to the start.
