Details (RL read field instructions carefully):

The plan is to bike out to Montauk from East Islip BoA and take the LIRR back home.  Trains depart Montauk at 3:30pm, 5:26pm and 7:33pm.  Train ride back to Great River station takes approximately 2hrs (3 min bike ride from Great River LIRR station back to BoA parking lot).

I suggest riders bring two water bottles, some energy snacks for the ride and extra $$ for rest stops/lunch/train fare).  We will make hydration/rest stops approximately every 20-25 miles.  Depending on when we arrive in Montauk (and what shape we're in when we get there - lol) we can discuss options (extend ride to lighthouse, sit-down lunch in town, Gosman's Dock, etc.).

Please check this posting again Friday evening for any additional updates.

If you are interested in this ride or have any questions, please let me know by 6pm Fri.  FYI - The LIRR has the right to limit the number of bikes they allow on each train so I need to get a rough headcount.  Please call or txt my cell (number below).  I’ve done this ride several times and never had a problem with LIRR but you never know.

Special note: Riders will need a Bike Permit so you can bring your bike on the train.  The permit cost is $5 but it is good for life (unless you lose it) and it can be purchased on the train without a penalty fee.  You will also need to purchase a one-way off-peak ticket for ride home (approx $10) and should be purchased prior to boarding.  LIRR ticket machine is at the station.
