Dear Club Leader:

As always, thank you so much for supporting the League of American Bicyclists as a member bike club. With concerns and strategies over limiting the spread of COVID-19 circulating online, we wanted to take the opportunity to offer some resources for riding under current conditions. Here at the League, we're no strangers to taking dramatic measures to limiting the spread of the virus, having cancelled the in-person 2020 National Bike Summit this week, and replaced it with live, online content.

As of March 15, our partners in bicycling at USA Cycling have recommended races and other gatherings, such as group rides, be canceled or postponed and is suspending permits on all events through April 5. They also put together some pointers on riding during this time.

It isn't in our authority to order clubs to cancel organized rides, although we do recommend rescheduling all events and gatherings.

Our friends at Bicycling Magazine put together a great FAQ on riding amid COVID-19 concerns, along with an update on ride etiquette. Of course, solo riding outside is perfectly safe and a good way to stay healthy, physically and mentally, while practicing social distancing. We hope you'll take this opportunity to get a breath of fresh air and enjoy your neighborhood streets.
