No. We are not racing cyclocross. Instead we'll be spectators of the spectacle. I think it might be interesting to watch. Kreb's Cycle sponsors a cross race on the old King's Park Psychiatric Center grounds. Here's a link to some additional info:
http://krebcycle.com/about/cylclocross-2011-pg372.htm
The race begins at 10:30 and lasts for a little less than an hour. So here's the schedule:
If you would like to watch the race, be at the ride start location no later than 10:15. Look for the green Ford van.
After the cross race, we'll try a hilly 25-30 miler. The route goes around Kings Park, then over to Northport and back. It's not crazy-hilly, but don't expect many flat roads. I'll adjust the degree of difficulty based on who - if any - riders show up.
The bike ride will leave at 11:30am sharp. So if you have no interest in watching the race, then you have the option of sleeping late and meeting up just for the ride.
The posted B+ pace is more for the hilly route than for the average speed. Similar routes for me in the past usually come in around 15mph. I'll keep the group together-ish with wait-ups as needed. If you're looking for a hard B+/A type ride, this won't be it.
I'm realistic about this posting. Usually cold weather + hilly route + W Suffolk start location = Solo ride for Philly.... but maybe you'll be the one rider to show up.
