Our safety on the roads these days is being attacked by the
leniency meted out by the courts when it comes to drugged/drunk
drivers running down and killing cyclists on our Long Island roadways.
This woman recieved a 1 1/2 to 4 yrs sentencing instead of
the 5 to 15 yrs recommended by the prosecuter today Not only did this
woman run down and kill this cyclist but she also attempted to flee
the scene. We all have to get vocal on this rising threat in our
communites and on our public roadways. Sorry for the rant but the
subject makes me boil. You can ride as safe as safe can be but
there's no defense against being overtaken and runned down !!!
