Old adage: IF IT'S RAINING, IT MUST BE TUESDAY!!!
RIDE CANCELLED
"Ride to sunset" is back and goes for its historic max of 34 miles, including the Setauket loop along Upper Sheep Pasture.
Thanks goes to Rich Mardosa for taking the ride last Tuesday, which I could not lead because my niece had a baby boy and I spent two days with the happy couple and newborn in NJ. Rafael, I heard you had an injury on last Tuesday's ride, so I'm hopeful that you've recovered and can either do this ride or join in it soon.
"Ride to sunset" means we aim to finish the ride before sunset. With sunset just about at it's annual max, at 8:25pm, the ride begins sharply at 5:30pm. Depending upon cloud covering, wait-ups and other variables, i.e. flat tires, etc., the length of the ride may varies from it's intended distance. The ride, which maintains a B pace, also demands hill riding capability.
With diminishing light nearing the end of the ride, bicycle lighting and bright colored clothing are highly recommended.
This scenic ride is along mostly country roads with many rolling hills and marvelous waterviews.
