For the Memorial Day Mel-O Lake tour I am changing some aspects of the ride. Start time: 8:00am. Distance will be around 50 miles. It's time to add some miles to prepare for the riders doing the Hincappie Fondo on June 4. Before turning towards Wildwood Lake, we will continue through the traffic circle on Rt. 24 and proceed to Pleasure Drive, then the golf course road to route 51 and down to Wildwood for the rest stop. From Wildwood Lake the return is the same as my past Monday rides. Also, being that it's Memorial Day it's a good time to wear our patriotic kits to show respect for people who have served in the armed forces. It's still a B+/A- ride so I like to cruise at 20 mph +-. Wait-ups are as needed and the last wait-up will be at the Mill Rd/Halsey Manor Rd. stop sign if needed. With the added miles we need to keep the ride steady, please. No surging.
To view or download the ride click on the link below, but the extra miles from the Pleasure Rd loop are not on this map. We will discuss this change before the ride.
Join me for this Memorial Day ride from Sayville before going to your Holiday festivities. Remember to wear your Red, White, and Blue!
Destination to be determined the morning of the ride - maybe north to Bohemia (where we will take our break at the Gourmet Bagel Shop) or to Oakdale (break at Bagels On The Bay) or to ???. This is a C ride which will average 11.6 - 12.0, depending on the riders and the wind. There will be bathrooms available wherever we stop.
NOTE #1:I am limiting the number of riders on my rides, so you MUST text me with your name & SBRA Member Number if you want to ride. I will return the text: YES, you have a spot…or…NO, Ride Filled...CELL #: 631-523-2129
Join us this week for a ride out to Briermere Farms, while we remember our late friend, Nick Attisano.
This week we'll drop down half a level to B/B+, so other riders can join us on our fun run to Briermere.
We'll leave South St. School, pick up River Road and then head down Route 24. Then it's up through Riverhead, past the site of Twin Forks and up Northville Turnpike to Briermere.
There will be a stop at Briermere at around 18 miles, where we'll grab a treat and share a story or two. Then it's a return through the fields and back home.
