NOTE:
Under the Ride Level details, the "Type: Road Bike" refers to the ride will be on paved roads (rather then off road trails). Although a Road Bike is suggested for Road Bike Type rides it is not required. Hybrid and mountain bikes can be used on these rides as well provided you are comfortable with the pace outline in the Posted Ride. Looking like I'll be able to ride Sunday. Calf is feeling better. Gonna do the Yaphank to Nettie's 44 mile ride. We will keep ride going with a stop at Netti's. The stop will be long enough to support Netties with Purchases and Bathroom.. I posted at a B+ only because of my Calf. We could dial it up a notch if I feel strong enough. I have been very limited on riding with Lyme and now a Bakers Cyst. Download Route.
It may be a little cold outside, but the Aliens will chase you and keep you warm... https://youtu.be/zV0hwZwNQZc
We'll do the rollers around Manorville, before we head down Route 24 and to our encounter with the southbound Alien Highway and The Hill. This time, we'll avoid the Wind Tunnel at the end of Route 51, to take it easy on the tired legs.
As usual, this will be a paceline ride with no formal stop - just a couple of regroups to keep everyone together. We won't leave anyone alone out in the wind!
Pulls into the wind are welcome; just no jacking-up the pace!
Today's’ route to Great River will change up a bit towards the end of the ride - if the wind is in our favor; making this route pretty flat except for 2 overpasses. We will go the usual route heading south using the Connetquot Park bike bath. We’ll work our way down to Heckscher Park, do a loop where one can stretch the legs a bit if desired. Pulling is appreciated! I would like to keep the road speed between 15 & 16mph and come in at an average between 14 and 15mph.
We will now be on the SOUTH SIDE of the Ronk train station near the Western end of the parking lot closest to Railroad Ave. Bring a snack and hydration. Route depends on riders ability, wind, position of moon and ride leaders disposition. As always newbies always well taken care of and no one gets dropped. Wheels down at posted time as "Daylights A Burnin" so get there 15 minutes before. Any cancellation will be by 9am. No need to text me, just "show n go". Ride average will range from 11.5-12.5mph for this 18-24 mile ride.
Coming from LIE take Ronkonkoma Ave. South, just over RR bridge make 3 right turns, parking is on right, corner of Railroad AVe and Ronkonkoma Ave.
Coming from Lakeland Ave. Sunrise Hwy., go North just pass Vets Hwy make right on Smithtown Ave (following alongside of airport), just before bridge make right on Railroad Ave, parking is on left side (go past one way entrance and make 1st available left into lot).
Come join me for a 10:00 C+/B- ride from Veterans Memorial Park to Netties.
We will average between 13 to 14, with cruising between 14 to 16 to get that average.
I will wait-up whenever someone falls behind. No one will be dropped. If you want to join me please text me on my cell, 631-655-7801.Please provide your name, SBRA, cell, and emergency numbers. Any changes to the ride will be posted by 8:00. The ride will be limited to 12 riders, unless a second ride leader signs up and wishes to split the ride.
