NOTE: VENUE CHANGED: This will be a SLOW hilly ride in Manorville. I had so much fun last time when I climbed and rested on the hill tops! Faster riders can start with John and ride between the two groups. The snow flakes will remain on the trail so it will be interesting!
Please contact me at the cell # below if you plan to do the ride with me (a slow ride!). If you don't touch base with me I will start the ride when all those that have made contact are present.
Check back to this posting as Life Happens and Things Change.
I plan to do CR83 North, ALL of the Ridges and Dark Side of the Moon; Depending on the milage and how I feel I will finish with White Ghost.

Ride cancelled, snow and ice on my streets. Off to Smithpoint County Park and Osprey Point for excellent water views. Bring several snacks and drinks for our stops. Restrooms available riding out to the parks, and on the return trip. To join the ride, text Bill G. at 631-356-3036 with your full name and date of the ride. Check the ride claendar the day of the ride for changes, which would be posted by 08:00am.
Starting a bit later to grab an extra degree or two. It's only going to reach 36-37 degrees during the ride so I'm cutting the ride shorter at 30 miles and the stop at DD will be quick.
This could be the last chance to ride until Sunday as the riding temperatures will be in the teens Saturday.
Pace will be a mid B and as always adjusted to the riders who show up. Text if you have any questions or want me to sign you in.
Off to Bean and Bagel, which has outside and inside eating areas. Note: this restaurant also has soup, a nice treat for winter riders. Note: None of the ride will be on the Grumman trail, because of the possibility of ice under leaves or debris, especially in shaded areas (this is a change from the original posting) To join this ride, text Bill G. with your full name and date of ride. Check the ride calendar the day of the ride for changes, which would be posted by 08:00am.

We will be leaving Oakdale RR and head to Bellport and returning to Oakdale for a 30 mile ride. Our food/restroom break will be around mile 17 in Bellport. The ride will be at a (B - pace) with an average speed of around 14.5 mphand road speeds that will reach 16 to 18 mph.

This ride will include doing most of Edgewood until we reach about 20 miles. If you do not want to do all the expert trails you can wait for us to come out of the expert loops so this would be a shorter ride for those that do not want to do all the expert trails. Edgewood is designed so that the expert trails (yellow, blue and red markings) come out near where they start. I will have maps that show the expert loops and where they enter and exit the main trail (main trail is marked white). Any questions please feel free to call.
Sorry all, I have to cancel the ride. I am not feeling well.
We'll try this again soon!
Take advantage of this nice weather and make a connection with the X-Pensive Winos, I mean the Thundebirds for a paceline ride to Riverhead. https://youtu.be/mWfJrshLz6I
We will leave the South Street School at 9:30 AM to head out to Riverhead on a lightly rolling route through the fields. Then it's a ride south down to Riverhead. After a quick stop at the bagel shop, we will return along the rollers on Route 24 back to Manorville.
Since we may hit some winds on the return, we will keep everyone together especially along Route 24, so no one is solo in the wind.
We will now be on the SOUTH SIDE of the Ronk train station near the Western end of the parking lot closest to Railroad Ave. Bring a snack and hydration. Route depends on riders ability, wind, position of moon and ride leaders disposition. As always newbies always well taken care of and no one gets dropped. Wheels down at posted time as "Daylights A Burnin" so get there 15 minutes before. Any cancellation will be by 9am. No need to text me, just "show n go". Ride average will range from 11.5-12.5mph for this 18-24 mile ride.

Join us as we ride out from Bellport at first utilizing some of the usual roads, but then go for a bit of a Mastic Meander taking the longer way to Osprey Point with lots of turns and some different views. From there, we head north, pass by the airport, head to River Road before heading back south to Bellport. All and all, a neat 35 miles that combines both parss with many turns along with some long stretches of riding. Long-term forecast seems decent as long as we dodge the costal storm this weekend. Ride starts at 10:30 to get some extra warmth.
Other than a quick opportunity at Dunkin Donuts, we will not be making a stop to buy food/lunch during the ride, but there will be stops along the way, so please bring any food/snacks you may want or need as well as sufficient hydration. Most importantly bring an upbeat inquisitive attitude ready to explore and discover.
To join the ride or if you have questions, please text Bill Mastro at 917-921-5358. FYI, I usually send the final ridewithgps file to those who contact me. Any updates or weather issues will be posted to the ride listing by 8:00 on the day of the ride.

Looking like I'll be able to ride Sunday. Calf is feeling better. Gonna do the Yaphank to Nettie's 44 mile ride. We will keep ride going with a stop at Netti's. The stop will be long enough to support Netties with Purchases and Bathroom.. I posted at a B+ only because of my Calf. We could dial it up a notch if I feel strong enough. I have been very limited on riding with Lyme and now a Bakers Cyst. Download Route.
It may be a little cold outside, but the Aliens will chase you and keep you warm... https://youtu.be/zV0hwZwNQZc
We'll do the rollers around Manorville, before we head down Route 24 and to our encounter with the southbound Alien Highway and The Hill. This time, we'll avoid the Wind Tunnel at the end of Route 51, to take it easy on the tired legs.
As usual, this will be a paceline ride with no formal stop - just a couple of regroups to keep everyone together. We won't leave anyone alone out in the wind!
Pulls into the wind are welcome; just no jacking-up the pace!
Today's’ route to Great River will change up a bit towards the end of the ride - if the wind is in our favor; making this route pretty flat except for 2 overpasses. We will go the usual route heading south using the Connetquot Park bike bath. We’ll work our way down to Heckscher Park, do a loop where one can stretch the legs a bit if desired. Pulling is appreciated! I would like to keep the road speed between 15 & 16mph and come in at an average between 14 and 15mph.
We will now be on the SOUTH SIDE of the Ronk train station near the Western end of the parking lot closest to Railroad Ave. Bring a snack and hydration. How about enjoying the nice holiday weather and taking a paceline spin out to Riverhead? The Pace will be a little easier (it's a B/B+ ride), to recover from the harder rides over the weekend. The terrain will be mostly flat to lightly rolling.
We'll spin out through the fields and then head down to Riverhead for a quick cup of coffee and bagel. Then we'll return up Route 24 and River Road to the finish.
Time to get out the bike and enjoy the 50 degree weather! Allons-y!

These rides will become regular once Daylight Savings time hits. They will move to 4:30pm and 5pm.
Since I don't have the authority of the GODS of the SBRA to change the Joe B ride to another day I'm renaming our journey "Wading River to Riverhead Panera."
This may sound just like the Joe B ride but come join and you be the judge.
Due to potentially bad weather in the afternoon, this ride is changed to Bean and Bagel, with the meeting place changed to Veteran's Park. This time we'll change it up: We'll attack Area 51 from the South! So we'll be heading northbound on Routes 51 and 24, which also means that we'll be riding westbound on Mill Road! Hopefully the pesky aliens won't surprise us with any winds.
As usual, this will be a paceline ride, with just a couple of regroups. There won't be any formal stop; this way we won't get cold sitting around at a stop!
Let's work together, so no one is left out in the wind! We wouldn't want to make Mr. Flibble mad: https://youtu.be/AOE7qTAK87o
Ride CP at 9:45am. Get rolling before CLIMBs ride at 10am. CLIMB a has a BBQ after their Ride. I will be stopping by to hang out for a short while. Try to Bring something if you plan to stay after ride. If anyone would like to Try MTB and don't have one, I'm willing to bring my Scott HardTail. Size Medium SPD pedals.
We will be on the SOUTH SIDE of the Ronk train station (LOT A1) near the Western end of the parking lot closest to Railroad Ave. Bring a snack and hydration as there may or may not be a coffee break but a restroom as needed.
Coming from LIE take Ronkonkoma Ave. South, just over RR bridge make 3 right turns, parking is on right, corner of Railroad AVe and Ronkonkoma Ave.
Coming from Lakeland Ave. Sunrise Hwy., go North just pass Vets Hwy make right on Smithtown Ave (following alongside of airport), just before bridge make right on Railroad Ave, parking is on left side (go past one way entrance and make 1st available left into lot).
I'm hosting a Mountain Bike Ride for this week's MOM. 9:30am at the Calverton MTB trail. If the parking area at the trailhead (next to the motel) is full, park at Vet's Memorial Park and ride over. Text me if you are parking there so I know to wait for you. Riders can ride at their own pace but the usual waitups should keep us together.
For this Flat ride the Average speed is 11.5-12.5mph depending on riders, wind, tide, position of moon and leaders disposition with a distance of 18-23 miles. Nobody gets left behind and newbies always welcome and well taken care of. Any cancellation will be before 9:00am. No need to text me.
Park in south side lot across from RR station.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the ride start, to allow enough time for me to get everyone signed in and to "get yourself" ready.
