    Dangerous Road - WmFloyd Pkwy

There is a dangerous road condition on William Floyd Parkway just before 2 lanes merge into one as you approach the drawbridge to Smithpoint. There is a groove between the 2 lanes before the merge that is wider than a bicycle tire. AVOID THIS GROVE!

On Wednesday, September 29th, Pat Brennan lost control of his bike moving to the left to let other bikes pass. His tire got stuck in the groove and he was barely able to prevent a crash.

On Saturday, October 2nd, Pete Olivieri lost control possibly hitting that same groove and did crash sustaining injury.

On my ride to Smithpoint today I stopped to examine the scene and took a couple of photos with my cellphone camera.

Here's the first photo showing the groove looking back towards the booth.

Here's the second photo showing a bicycle tire in the groove.
