I put a B pace but the average has been coming in higher on this ride than a B due to pace line work on Dune Road . We all stay together so there have been no problems with anyone keeping up.

Join me for the North Country Rd. hills to Manorville. 4 climbs or so with wait ups....you know that route. This is a structured ride and staying together is paramount., with wait ups after the hills. I expect to separate on the hills. We will not do Boy Scout hill on Sound but will , after Little Flower , go over Sound , down to 25A, then left and regroup at the Fed Ex plant on 24 [Edwards}. After that and all the way home it is only rolly. No maps; hope to see you. To find Crystal Brook Hollow, it intercepts with 25A in Mt. Sinai. If rain, I will cancel the morning of.

After the rather large turnout last Sunday I've decided to post this ride again. Meet at the southeast corner of the parking lot near the railroad tracks. We will do the same route as last Sunday, meandering through Center Moriches, East Moriches into Eastport. There is no bathroom or food stop on this ride so please plan accordingly. Please check the Ride Calendar on Saturday morning to see if the start time has changed, it may be moved up to 2PM or back to 4PM.

Meet on the east end of the parking lot, south of the Wendy's. Food/rest stop in Westhampton at the Beach Bakery. Pace will be about 14.5 (cruising between 15-16). Park on the southeast corner of the shopping center, closest to the train tracks. Route still TBD. I am working on a route east to Hampton Bays but Tully's won't be open in the morning and I believe the Green Door is closed for the season. We may end up doing a repeat of last week's route to Briermere. Regardless of which route is chosen there will be at least one food/rest stop but you may want to bring your own snacks. Off to the beach we go. This is nice flat ride out to Smith Points where we will stop at the beach for a break. The pace is a mid B/B+ so around the mid 16 range. Please park at the West end of the parking lot across from Flo's but not West of the YMCA. Bring a light snack for the beach break.
Join me for a short, early ride to get some exercise and still allow you to have most of the day for other activities. We will loop around from Ronkonkoma to Connetquot, and then return through Ronkonkoma, where we will make a brief bathroom stop. This is a structured C+ ride which will average 12.2 - 12.6, with cue sheets and no one will be dropped.

Sleep in a bit, have breakfast and then come work it off! We'll ride to West Hampton Beach via Eastport and Remsenburg, then to Dune Road and back via Red Creek and Flanders. There are some rolling hills to get warmed up along Mill Road out to Manorville. We will change the route accordingly if the winds are up and/or there is flooding on Dune Road. It's located on Route 25, 3.5 miles east of the William Floyd Parkway on the right side after the baseball fields and before the National Cemetery. Ok, so this is it. The ducks are all quacking and all in a row. This is what the outcome was. Let’s go to Manorville and return via the South shore thru Bellport. I have posted this as a 40 mile ride but if the day is windy and cold we will do 35 miles and if it’s really windy and cold we’ll do 30 miles. There will be a rest stop and food along the way. For all the leg stretches there will be a ying yang of them; me, my legs are like rubber bands, I’ll stay with those who don’t. The average pace will be between 14.8 & 15mph. with a road speed of 15-17mph. It’s the end of the season so come prepared to do 40 miles.

You may purchase food there, or bring a sandwich, etc. to consume while sampling their brews and sitting at their picnic table area. You may also bring a bag of snacks to share with everyone.

We will start with a 15 or 25 mile ride at a C or B pace (your choice) from Sunshine Mall to the Carmans River Canoe and Kayak (formerly Glacier Bay) on Montauk Highway in Brookhaven.
Hop off your bicycles (security provided) and enjoy a beautiful paddle along the Carmans River, one of Long Island’s most scenic water ways.

Cross Island Pkwy bike path - Flushing Bay Promenade - Astoria Park - RFK/Triboro Bridge (possibly the scariest thing you'll ever do on a bike) - Ward's Island - East River Bike Path - Harlem City Streets - A full Central Park Loop - 4 miles down Hudson River Bike Path - 3 miles of city streets to Ed Koch/Queensboro Bridge - 5 miles of city streets to the World's Fair grounds – Loops at the Kissena Velodrome – Then city streets and Greenway bike paths to finish up the ride.
It's a 53 mile / 1700ft ride and (again) it will probably take all friggin day. (I'll figure out a lunch stop along the way.)

A ride to Port Jeff with quite challenging hills here and there (not East Broadway). Brief rest stop with bathroom and buyable snacks at about mile 16. Ride will probaby average mid- to low-13 due to hilly terrain and my just getting back to hills. If you've been doing hills all season, you will enjoy this challenge.

Ride to Heckscher Park and do 3 loops of the bike path before returning. Riders can go at their own pace in the park and we will meet up at a designated spot. This will be a shorter version of the full North Fork Tour, leaving from Manorville and heading out through the Pine Barrens and Riverhead to Mattituck.

Fall foliage should be at its peak for this tour along the Nissequogue River, Short Beach, Long Beach, and Harbor Road, before heading through Stony Brook Village and out to Old Field Point. These are some of the prettiest back roads in Suffolk.
This is a very hilly route, so I've listed it as a B- ride. Nobody gets dropped, everybody gets plenty of exercise.

Join Linda Kirk and me for a combined bike-hike ride. We'll start with a leisurely 19 mile ride from Bellport to the Wertheim Wildlife Preserve located on Smith Rd. in Mastic. We'll lock up our bikes at the visitor's center and do a 2-3 mile hike on the trails overlooking the Carmans River. Bring lunch or a snack to be eaten while we're in the preserve. This was one of my favorite rides last year. It begins on the Grand Concourse around 161st St. I park my car on Randall's / Ward's Island and ride to the start. It ends at the Bronx Botanical Gardens and I city street my way back into Manhattan for a spin through Central Park before returning to the car.
It's 60+ miles with at least 2500ft of climbing.
