We'll ride up to Calverton at what should be the upper range of a B+ pace. Expect some hills along North Country Rd and then more as we head out passed Little Flower.
From SE Corner of Commack Rd and Vanderbilt parkway. Park between McDonalds and Bagel Shop near Meson Ole. Across the street from Bonwit Inn.
Rolling hills, NO East Broadway this time, but additional hills on request. Scenic route from Commack through Smithtown, Head of the Harbor, Stony Brook, Old Field and Setauket. Return flattens out after climbing out of Port Jefferson and continues through SUNY Stony Brook, Saint James, Smithtown and Hauppauge, through Suffolk Community College at Brentwood and back to starting point.
Deli/Bakery/McDonalds Stop.
No go in rain.
Cell phone provided for day of ride contact if necessary
Classic Sunshine to Manorville ride. Stopping at Mcdonalds for a rest break at mile 22 before heading back.
Group stays together, and pace will be about 16 mph average at the end of the ride.
Check for any changes the morning of the ride please.
We'll travel to Belle Terre, then roll along North Country past the pond in Miller Place. After those hills, the remainder of the ride is rather flat, out to Whiskey and back via Pine to Old Town Road. Will come in at 14.7-15.2. A short break at McDonald's in Miller Place, so bring cash or a snack.
Parking note: This is the Home Goods in Port Jefferson Station on 347...NOT Stony Brook. Please park towards the center of the lot, near the big shopping center sign with all the store names on it so that we aren't in the midst of store traffic.
I will be riding to the start from my house. Call with questions: 631-804-5902
*Please check back here by 7am the day of the ride for any changes/cancellations.
I tend to be long winded so click "read more" on the bottom for the entire post. - This Saturday we’re going to Ridge - through the towns of Holbrook, Medford, Coram and Yaphank. It's a nice route with some good roads, and of course, some with pot holes, but what else is new.
The average pace for the ride will be between 14.5 and 15mph. Depending on wind conditions, and other factors we might be just a tad into the mid "B” range; nothing new here. Naturally the road speed will be slightly higher to produce the average.
There are a few long spots where one can stretch the legs if so desired.
Around mile 18 or so we’ll make a pit stop; you can go to Mickey D’s or the deli.
My cell number is 631.484.3490; call anytime if you have questions about this ride or need directions to the start. Always check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations which will be posted no later than 7:45AM if necessary.
Park behind Wendy's on Old Neck Road. We will have opportunity to do rollers on Dayton Ave and Mill Road (done at your own pace-faster or slower) with wait ups. Then we'll go up Edwards Ave to Route 25 and stop at the Bean and Bagel. Cell phone 516-330-1542. Always remember to check the website an hour or so before in case of cancellation for any reason.
The beach season is upon us. Let's kick off the season by leaving the Manorville King Kullen for a moderate paceline ride to the beach at Smith Point. We'll have a brief stop at the boardwalk.
And you can't have the beach without the Beach Boys:
Heroes and Villains...
So who'll be the heroes and ride with the ride leader and who will be the villains who try to hijack the ride?
Meet at the southwest corner of the train station parking lot. Ride east through Oakdale, Sayville, Bayport and Blue Point, with a short rest stop at Corey Beach. To add mileage we can do an optional loop at the beginning of the ride through the Oakdale area around Dowling College. Cancellation for any reason will be posted no later than 7:30AM on Saturday.
Sorry had to cancel ride due to family obligation.
Since Tom is doing a D ride I'm gonna make this ride the lower range of C+ and add a couple of miles. A nice easy ride for beginners or those new to the club. bathroom breaks if needed, no one will be dropped. any questions [631]478-9072.
It's time to get back on the bike for a FLAT 10 mile slow paced ride. BEGINNERS, anybody recovering from incidents or people that want to go at a slower pace welcome. Pace (about 10mph) and distance depend on the slowest person in the group. ABSOLUTELY NO ONE LEFT BEHIND!!! Check website after 1PM for any cancellation. Don't forget your helmet.
Since Karen has to work thought I would post an afternoon ride for those in the same boat or like to sleep in a little on the weekend without sacrificing a ride opportunity. Will make a short stop at the park but I'm not sure the restrooms will still be open. Then return via Woodside Ave.
Any cancellations will be posted by 3:00 PM.
