NOTE:
Under the Ride Level details, the "Type: Road Bike" refers to the ride will be on paved roads (rather then off road trails). Although a Road Bike is suggested for Road Bike Type rides it is not required. Hybrid and mountain bikes can be used on these rides as well provided you are comfortable with the pace outline in the Posted Ride. This ride calendar is for club rides, club meetings, club event posts and shop rides only.

we will head out to eastport then up to manorville back to yaphank and then medford. we will try to keep the pace around 14 to 15 mph. there will be a couple of stops. no one dropped.
Today we are going to Briemere for a change! I would like to get an early start so we can get back for those that have plans later on in the day.
Check back for any updates in case the weather turns on us. Park in the SE part of the parking lot towards 7 11 and McDonalds.
We'll celebrate the 4th by riding to the estate of William Floyd, a signer of the Declaration of Independence. Hopefully we'll be able to witness the firing of the cannon in Mastic. Leader will maintain a 13-15 mph level ground cruising speed. No one will be dropped.
IN VIEW OF THE PROBABLE WEATHER ON THE 4TH, I'VE DECIDED TO CHANGE THE DATE OF THE RIDE TO SATURDAY, JULY 5TH STARTING AT 8:30 AM.
I CAN'T GUARANTEE THAT WE'LL SEE THE FIRING OF THE CANNON.
I tend to be long winded so click "read more" on the bottom for the entire post. - Ok guys and gals let’s get up this morning and work off some of those party carbs by going to Manorville today. If you need “alka-seltzer”, “tumbs” or that pink stuff in a bottle give me a call. You can expect an average pace between 14.5 and 15.0 mph. depending on wind conditions and other factors. I will slow the pace down a tad (into the wind) if it is very windy. Naturally the road speed will be slightly higher to produce the average. The route is mostly flat; 3 short hills, one incline.
There are some areas where one can stretch the legs if desired. It’s not a pace line ride. Around mile 13 we’ll stop at; yup, you guessed it, Mc Donald’s or the bagel shop.
Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations which will be posted no later than 7:30AM if necessary. My cell number is 631.484.3490; call anytime if you have questions about this ride or need directions to the start.
RIDE UPDATE - 7/3 2PM - FORECAST IS LOOKING PRETTY BAD FOR TOMORROW SO I AM POSTPONING UNTIL SATURDAY. I MAY ALSO INCREASE THE MILEAGE TO 25 BY CHANGING THE DESTINATION TO BELLPORT, BUT ONLY IF THE WHOLE GROUP AGREES.
Meet at the overflow lot south of the train station. Easy, meandering route through Sayville, West Sayville and Oakdale. Pace will be on the low end of B- ( 13.0 - 14.0 ). No food stop on this ride. Cancellation for any reason will be posted no later than 7:30AM.
Take a 30ish mile ride from Ronk RR to Corey Beach and then off to the Ecology Center. Approx. 30 miles NO ONE LEFT BEHIND. Any cancellation by 8AM. Average pace will come in at 11-12.5MPH. We can stop at a deli if you want to pick up snacks to eat at the Ecology Center (or bring something with you). Special care taken for new riders. Janet, Carol where is my Basil!
