Park in King Kullen lot closest to 7-11 and McDonald's. We will be stopping at Briermere's for rest rooms and snacks, and a second stop will be at Wildwood State Park, which has restrooms, and a deli stop, at the entrance to the park. If the American Bison are out we will stop for a photo op at their farm on Reeves Avenue. Pace will average about 13.5-14mph.,depending upon wind, road conditions and rider ability. If you are training for either century ride, this is a chance to get in some more mileage. Any changes will be posted by 7:30am day of ride. Any questions, call Bill Gravitz at 631-356-3036. Note: I will have with me paper goods, plastic cutlery, and a pie server if we can get enough people to be interested in eating, and chipping in for a pie. Coffee and other goodies are available at Briermere's.
How about going to Yaphank today? The average pace for the ride will be between 14.3 and 15.0 mph depending on the wind direction and other factors. The road speed on this ride will be between 14.5 and 17 mph. There are a few places along the route where one can stretch the legs if needed. Around mile 19 there will be a bathroom/deli stop.
Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations which will be posted no later than 8:00AM if necessary. My cell number is 631.484.3490; call anytime if you have questions about this ride or need directions to the start.
Rest stop Westhampton Bakery bring money, will be slow up CR 111, ride average will be C+ depending on wind and who shows up, not faster, no one left behind.
There is fire roads and horse trails that we can ride on in the park. We can even cross the dam to add extra miles. There is no parking fee yet. No one left behind. This is a great way to cross train for road riding.
This will be a B+ ride with a wait up at the top of the very short climbs, for me at least.... The cruising speed will be around 20-21mph due to the flat nature of the route. Any solid B/B+ riders are welcome to come along, the ride will not be too fast. No one will be left behind and it will be a structured ride going at the slowest riders pace keeping to an 18mph average. http://ridewithgps.com/routes/4341138
