NOTE:
Under the Ride Level details, the "Type: Road Bike" refers to the ride will be on paved roads (rather then off road trails). Although a Road Bike is suggested for Road Bike Type rides it is not required. Hybrid and mountain bikes can be used on these rides as well provided you are comfortable with the pace outline in the Posted Ride. This ride calendar is for club rides, club meetings, club event posts and shop rides only.

We will be leaving the bank heading to the Great River area and then make our way to Babylon Docks. Please bring snacks and drinks for this ride. We will take a short break at the docks.
This is a B ride with an average speed of 15 to 16 mph, road speeds may reach 17-19mph. Check the ride calender for any changes posted by 5:00am day of the ride.
Delayed in hope of dryer roads. Sassasfras is heading south on Ridge Rd. onto Floyd north, to 25A. Then we head south on Wading River Rd., to Montauk Hwy., to Silly Lilly's. Long S T R E T C H E S is the essence of a Sassafras ride. A quick rest stop either there or in East Moriches. A different backroads return, Pine to Chapman to Silas, looping all around the back of Grumman by Swan Lake etc. My cell 631 922-0632
My apologies. I have to change the date of this ride from Sunday to Saturday. Sorry for any inconvenience.

My yearly pilgrimage to Coney Island for a hot dog and a beer via mostly boardwalks and bike paths. The route goes Long Beach Boardwalk (BW), Altantic Beach BW, Far Rockaway BW, and over the Marine Park Bridge to Brooklyn. There'll be some city streets through Sheepshead Bay and Brighton Beach, so be prepared for some slightly more intense riding.
We'll recharge our engines at Nathan's... (limit 2 beers please)... then return east all the way on the Belt Parkway bike path, passed Canarsie Piers, through Howard Beach, and over the Cross Bay Bridge into Far Rock. From there we'll backtrack to Long Beach.
Although posted as a B+, this will be a somewhat casual ride. Aside afew long straight segments (where there's an opportunity for faster riders to go ahead without getting lost), the open-road-pace will be in the 17-18mph range, although this will be off-set substantially by much slower riding on boardwalks and some city streets. The bridges and Belt Pkwy overpasses are the only hills. The rest of the route is dead flat.
The likelihood of a couple long fast straightaways should not discourage strong "B" riders from coming along. Bring a partner. Obviously, this is a no drop ride and wait-ups if necessary will be no problem. There are an abundance of water/food stops available and restroom options all along the way, but bring snacks and gels. I have no set time frame for how long the ride will take, but we should be back at the cars by around 3:30pm.
I'm nobody's fool, let's take it easy before the Tour of the Hamptons. We'll launch from the usual place, but this time we'll land at Smith Point. While a paceline ride, this will be an easy spin ride, so if you want a workout - bring your mountain bike or fixie! Everyone can take their own pace down William Floyd parkway to the beach, but otherwise we stay together!
We'll have a short stop at the beach, with an optional stop at the 7-Eleven before the beach.
If you've wanted to try a ride at a higher level, this is your chance!
Join me for a ride around Holbrook, Ronkonkoma, and Bohemia, then down to Sayville and back up to Ronkonkoma and the ride start. We will take our break at the Gourmet Bagel Co. on Lakeland Ave., where beverages, food, and a bathroom are available.
This will be a C+ ride which will average 12.5 - 12.9 and there will be cue sheets.
NOTE: for couples that ride different levels, this matches up well with Tom's C ride at 9:30AM.
Depending on wind, tide and position of moon we will ride approx. 23ish miles at a 10-11.5 mph pace from Ronk station. Be ready to roll at posted time with water, fully inflated tires and helmet. Newbies always welcome and well taken care of and nobody gets left behind. Be there or be square. Cancellation for any reason will be posted by 8am.
We'll either head north into Manorville and Calverton with a food/rest stop at Bean & Bagel or head east to Westhampton Beach and Quogue with a food/rest stop at Beach Bakery. Mileage is approximate, the north route would be closer to 27 miles and the east route would be closer to 23 miles. Cancellation for any reason will be posted by 7AM.
