Time change due to the predicted am rain showers. We can adjust more on site if needed. We will decide at the start on the Sassafras the route depending on the wind and waves, so to say. My cell 631 922-0632
The mileage is approximate. I will detail it later We will head to either the Baymen deli by the docks or the bagel shop in the village. Update in mileage. 58 instead of 55.
Cum on Feel the Noize, as the Thunderbirds make an extended ride to Briermere. There will be a few areas where you can make some big noise with your bike. The rest of the time, we'll ride together as a group.
Hopefully, the weather gives us a break, but be prepared for possible weather delays. Allons-y!
The ride is on for today. I will be riding my mountain bike, so I am reducing mileage, and probably speed. My road bike is in the shop with gear and free wheeling problems. There is also a strong chance of rain tomorrow, which could cause the ride to be postponed to a later time, or cancelled. Look for update 2 tomorrow. If it is wet out, we can eat at bean and bagel on the way to Wildwood. Off to Wildwood, with a deli stop just prior to the park. Optional lunch at the Maples Bar on our return. For info: contact Bill G. at 631-356-3036. Check the ride calendar the day of the ride for changes, which would be posted by 07:30am.
Come out and join me for a ride from Bellport to the Beach, where we will get to ride on the newly paved Montauk Hwy., as well as the recently paved Old Stump Road. We will make a stop at Wertheim for bathroom if needed; stop at 7-11 prior to the beach or you may bring a snack.
This is a C+ ride, which will average 12.4 - 12.9, depending on the wind and the riders, and there will be cue sheets.
We're off to Shoreham to view the Sound and make a rest/snack stop at the Bagel Cafe. Leader will maintain a 12-13mph cruising speed. No one will be dropped. Any change will be posted by 8 am. Call me at 631 7=846-7825 if you have any questions.
It's off to Manorville. The average pace for the ride will be between 14.6 to 15.0 mph +/- depending on the roads, wind direction, rider ability or other conditions. Naturally, the road speed will be higher (15 -16.5 mph.) to produce the average. A rest/ food stop at McDonald’s or the bagel shop is on the schedule around mile 16. There are a few places along the route where leg stretches can be done for those who wish to do so. There is no obligation for anyone to do this; you can hang back with me.
Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations which will be posted no later than 8:30am, if necessary. My cell number is 631.484.3490; call or text me anytime if you have questions about the ride.
Depending on wind, tide and position of moon we will ride approx. 23ish miles at a 10-11.5 mph pace from Ronk station. Be ready to roll at posted time with water, fully inflated tires and helmet.
