NOTE:
Under the Ride Level details, the "Type: Road Bike" refers to the ride will be on paved roads (rather then off road trails). Although a Road Bike is suggested for Road Bike Type rides it is not required. Hybrid and mountain bikes can be used on these rides as well provided you are comfortable with the pace outline in the Posted Ride. This ride calendar is for club rides, club meetings, club event posts and shop rides only.
For Other Events in our area and off Long Island check out the "Other Rides & Events calendar" and the "Forums"

who cares about the game...... weather forecast shows a good day to be in the woods..... traditionally, this ride is led by norm at cathedral with soup at THAT local diner. norm will be out of town and THAT diner has closed. so let's ride calverton and perhaps go to bean and bagel post ride. can anyone coordinate this (private pay/no club funding) all riders and ride leaders are welcome to ride and lead!!
NOTE: If it is too windy the route and the distance will be shortened to make the ride easier. The start time and the ride start location will remain the same.
This morning it might be nice to take a ride through Bellport and Patchogue stopping for a break at Mickey D’s around mile 20. The average pace will be between 14.0 to 15.0 mph depending on the roads, wind direction, dew point, and other conditions. Naturally, the road speed will be higher (15 -16.5 mph.) to produce the average. Depending on the wind and the route back we might be +/- a mile.
Good Stuff after the Ride. Not sure what good stuff; it's always a surprise.
Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations which will be posted no later than 8:00am if necessary. My cell phone number is 631-484-3490; call or text anytime if you have questions about this ride.
The bagel oven broke today, Saturday, at the Bean and Bagel. Bring a snack for the ride in case the oven isn't fixed. They do have other foods to eat, plus bathrooms. From the Veteran's Park lot we will go completely around the Grumman Trail, appx. 10 miles, returning to where we are parked. If you want to do a second loop, we will continue on the trail, stop at Bean and Bagel for a break, than complete the trail for a second time. At this point we have stayed on a car free trail the whole ride, except to cross the street to get to and from Bean and Bagel. As a bonus, when we have returned to the lot a second time, we can ride another five miles or so on existing roads, bringing total mileage up to about 25 miles. For info: contact Bill G. at 631-356-3036. Check the calendar the day of the ride for changes, which would be posted by 08:00am. This is a new ride.
Group or team ride. One stop and no wait ups so I will be going up the hills at a moderate (max of 300 watts) pace up Little Flower and 51. Looking at a pace that keeps everyone moving. Last few weeks we have kept everyone in contact. If a faster group goes off the front I will not chase. The ride is about base miles.
A reminder that this is the month you want to renew your membership to SBRA. The club does a lot to promote cycling in the community so pony up.
Join me for this C+ ride from Sayville - destination will be determined by the prevailing winds. We will have a bathroom stop and take a break somewhere.
I am not using my road bike, so feel free to bring your hybrid or fat tire bike, if you have one. This is a structured ride which will average 12.2 - 12.6, depending on wind, riders, etc.
NOTE: Park on the South Side of the train station, across the street.
Exploring a new route. Slow and steady is today's pace at a low B. I'm riding a borrowed hybrid (just saying) & happy to be out there. My cell 631 9220632
Park in lot across from Krebs for a short meander to Patchogue. Get a few miles in before the Super Bowl snacks! Always check back for any changes which would be posted by 11:00.
