NOTE:
Under the Ride Level details, the "Type: Road Bike" refers to the ride will be on paved roads (rather then off road trails). Although a Road Bike is suggested for Road Bike Type rides it is not required. Hybrid and mountain bikes can be used on these rides as well provided you are comfortable with the pace outline in the Posted Ride. This ride calendar is for club rides, club meetings, club event posts and shop rides only.
For Other Events in our area and off Long Island check out the "Other Rides & Events calendar" and the "Forums"

NOTE: THIS RIDE HAS BEEN CANCELLED AS THE TEMPS ARE EXPECTED TO BE ABOVE 32F AT 9 AM ... ...DEFROSTING TRAILS CAUSES RUTS!
ES on the w/e makes for less commuter traffic ... Hopefully I have some company this time
South of the big log and down BJs Way (on the Intermediate trail) is damaged due to lots of ruts so I plan on doing the Advance trail ... BUT if an Intermediate rider shows we'll do the Intermediate trail heading north from the big log and jump over to the last 3 miles of the Advance when we do the last BD on the west side of the Intermediate.
Check back to this posting before leaving for the ride as Life Happens and Things Change.
Running late? PULL OVER and call my cell below ... we'll wait but make you feel lousy about it ...
No need to arrive 20 minutes early and get sweated in the car or freeze outside .... just be there in time to start at the posted Start Time.
This will be a nice ride around the Holbrook area. The average pace for this ride will be between 14.0 & 15.0 mph; naturally the road speed will be higher to produce the average. If it's a real nice day we might add a mile or two. We can all go for coffee and a bagel at the end of the ride or, if the ride changes up a bit we will go to McDonalds; depending on the wind.
Any cancellation due to weather or any other circumstance will be posted no later than 8:30am if necessary. If you have question about the ride or the start location please call or text me 631.484.3490…
Just back from a ski trip, so lets take an easy meander around Calverton and Manorville, with a good part on the bike path and the new extension back to the parking lot. If it is windy, this route will keep us on many roads that are not out in the open. We will take our break at Bean & Bagel, where you may snack and use the bathroom.
I am not using my road bike, so feel free to bring your hybrid or fat tire, if you have one. The ride will average 11.8 - 12.0, with cue sheets.
Heading north through Upper Brookville, Matinecock, Locust Valley & around. A quick stop TBD. On the return we ride through Lattingtown, Dosoris Island, Glen Cove, Old Brookville, N.Y.I.T. campus, Westbury Gardens & back to Post Rd. where we began. Approximately 1500 elevation gain. My cell 631 922-0632. We will tweek the ride depending on the cold & wind. Taking it at a slower pace, wait ups on hills. No bathroom at Westbury high school, but there is one just east on 25.
