Although a Road Bike is suggested for Road Bike Type rides it is not required. Hybrid and mountain bikes can be used on these rides as well provided you are comfortable with the pace outline in the Posted Ride. This ride calendar is for club rides, club meetings, club event posts and shop rides only.

Winds may change this ride. The strong winds predicted for tomorrow, if the forecast is right, will change this ride from the route going to Briermere which is very exposed to the wind, to riding in and around Calverton, with a break at Bean and Bagel. Strong winds may slow down our speed, and possibly limit our ride distance. We will still be leaving from the Maple's parking lot. Note: there is a high pollen alert for Tuesday. Be sure to check the ride calendar by 07:45am for any further changes. Off to Briermere's, with a brief stop to view the American Bison herd (if they are in one of the fields we can see from the road). Brieremere's has restrooms and picnic tables. If you want to share a pie, bring singles and change. Coffee and tea are available, along with a variety of wonderful baked goods. For info: contact Bill G. at 631-356-3036. Check the ride calendar the day of the ride for changes, which would be posted by 07:45am.
Get your hill practice served many different ways by the hills of the Three Villages. Our break is at the Oldfield lighthouse; bring your own snack. There is no bathroom stop on this ride. On the non-hills, we expect to cruise at 13-15mph. On the hills, each does his/her own best effort and we meet at the top — no pressure there. There are spots where faster riders can push ahead.

The average pace for this ride will be between 14.0 & 15.0 mph; naturally the road speed will be higher to produce the average. We can all go for coffee and a bagel at the end of the ride and chat if you want.
