Although a Road Bike is suggested for Road Bike Type rides it is not required. Hybrid and mountain bikes can be used on these rides as well provided you are comfortable with the pace outline in the Posted Ride. This ride calendar is for club rides, club meetings, club event posts and shop rides only.

I'll be extremely happy to be at this ride start! ... time to begin working some hills. This ride was created by Jack Steffens, a great ride leader and hill (and dog) trainer who passed too soon. This ride has a B/B+ rating due to the effort but will probably end up with a B pace. We only climb ~1650 feet with this ride.
Off to Briermere with a brief stop to see the American Bison, if they are in a field viewable from the road. If you want to share a pie, bring singles and change. There are many porta-potties where we are parked, and a real bathroom at Briermere's. For info, contact Bill G. at 631-356-3036. Any changes will be posted by 07:15am day of ride.
The Burger – A thick juicy burger, cooked to order, lettuce, tomato, and fries. Wash it down with a tall glass of selected tap beer; all this for only $6.00.
The Taco – Beef tacos $1.00, half price beer with many tap selections. For those who don’t want beef there are $2.00 shrimp tacos as well as other choices.
The Ride – Almost forgot, we must do the ride. We’ll be going to the Yaphank area or the Patchogue area or the Holbrook area. It all depends on the riders and the wind. The average will be about 14-15mph+/-.Naturally the road speed will be higher; between 15.5 and 17.0 with the wind at your back.

We are off to Shipwreck Cove for a quick evening spin.We will stop at Shipwreck Cove (mile 13) for a quick break before heading back. The average pace will be between 16.0 to 17.0 mph depending on the roads, wind direction and other conditions. The road speed will naturally be higher (18 -20 mph.) to produce that average.

Join us as we travel scenic backroads thru the Stony Brook-Setauket area: historic places, great views, great sunsets, great folks. We are a diverse group out for an enjoyable ride and fun nite.
The ride classification takes into account the rolling/hill route, often finishing around 12.7-13.2. There are wait ups after climbs and places to stretch your legs ahead... but please note this is not a "race ride". Dinner afterwards if interested.
Check ride calendar for any changes or cancellations by 5pm the day of ride.
Parking lot on Greeley. Target cruise speed is 17 but will drop to 15 if needed for slowest rider. One brief breather at 15 miles. While there is some scenery on the Idle Hour Loop, the ride is designed with long straighs and minimal turns to maintain the crusing speed.
