Under the Ride Level details, the "Type: Road Bike" refers to the ride will be on paved roads (rather then off road trails). Although a Road Bike is suggested for Road Bike Type rides it is not required. Hybrid and mountain bikes can be used on these rides as well provided you are comfortable with the pace outline in the Posted Ride. This ride calendar is for club rides, club meetings, club event posts and shop rides only.
For Other Events in our area and off Long Island check out the "Other Rides & Events calendar" and the "Forums"

We will maintain an average pace between 16 to 17 mph+/-, depending on the road conditions and wind direction.
Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations, which will be posted no later than 7:00 am if necessary. My cell number is 347-677-4164; call or text anytime if you have questions about the ride or need directions to the start location.
Nice weather is on the horizon, so let's get out and stretch those legs and thighs. We will still be riding at a winter B- pace unless of course the temperature rises to 60F and we can shed some clothes, gloves and our balaclava. But unfortunately I do not see 60 degrees in this Sunday's ride. We will ride east to Bellport and take a break at the Bellport Deli.
Please check website before 8am in case of cancellation.
This will be a GENTLE B+/A-... not looking for any awards or special achievements... just looking to get out and start pushing up the pace. We'll keep the cruising pace between 18-21mph outside of hills and winds (and adjust as needed).
We'll break at Nettie's at mile 31.
There's construction in Grumman (Burman Blvd) - outside of that, feel free to sprint through Grumman (in and out) and regroup at the end. We'll also regroup at the end of River Rd.
Time to get the bikes and get ready to ride.. Since this is the first time out for some of us, we will take it easy. Do't forget we move the clocks ahead Saturday night so that is why i am starting at 10 to give it time to warm up.
This will be a low C+ ride from Sayville to Patchogue, or Bellport, or Ronkonkoma ?? - direction will depend on the prevailing winds, etc. There will be a break & bathroom stop wherever we go.
This is a structured ride which will average 11.9 - 12.3.
NOTE: Park on the South Side of the train station.
Welcome March! So far the weather forecast looks promising! We'll be staying within the C+/B- pace and everyone stays together. Please arrive the requested 20 minutes prior to the ride start to ensure you and your bike are ready to ride.
We're heading to Oakdale Dunkin Donuts, which will be our rest stop prior to heading back to Bellport.
Please check back on this post for any changes or cancellations.
Time change: new time is 10:45am. Note: This is the new time after you have changed your clocks. Off to Nettie's for some great soup's or baked goods.
