NOTE:
Under the Ride Level details, the "Type: Road Bike" refers to the ride will be on paved roads (rather then off road trails). Although a Road Bike is suggested for Road Bike Type rides it is not required. Hybrid and mountain bikes can be used on these rides as well provided you are comfortable with the pace outline in the Posted Ride. This ride calendar is for club rides, club meetings, club event posts and shop rides only.

So, we have 2 more Saturdays to get in shape for the Harriman State Park ride August 22.
II just drove the planned route and there is a lot of debris in the shoulders so change of route is in order. Moving it west where there is less storm damage.
We will start at the Park, left side of lot (no leisure pass required at this time). From Roslyn to Sands Point and Kings Point and back. Deli stops if needed at mile 17 or 33.
Rated as B/B+ because of hills but will wait up as needed.

Last week we were able to see the whole herd. Briermere's has great pies and baked goods, and if you want to share a pie, bring $. There is a shaded area with picnic tables and widely spaced "sitable" rocks, which are great for social distancing. Flush toilets are available. Masks are a must. Join me for this C ride, which will average 11.5 - 12. No one gets dropped and we will be observing spacing rules, etc. We will loop around Bellport and Patchogue, and then go to Corey Beach for a bathroom stop; our break will be around the corner at the Atlantic Ave. Deli.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the ride start, to allow enough time for me to get everyone signed in and to "get yourself" ready.

Meeting at Westhampton LIRR. The first part of the ride has some hills as we go past Quogue into Hubbard County Park and down to Hampton Bays. Back along Dune Rd which is nice and flat! Bring a snack and water, I think I have found a park we can stop at. Bathroom stops at Quogue Wildlife mile 3 and Dune Rd mile 21.

Heckscher Park, which is a good part of our ride in both directions is closed due to West Nile Virus. And the surrounding area still has much debris on the roads. For the safety of our riders I have chosen to cancel this ride.
Join me for this scenic D ride, cruising speed will be 6 - 10 depending on the group. No one gets dropped. We will meander around some quiet back roads of East Islip, before heading west to Islip where we will stop at the beach for a snack and bathroom break. Then ride the Heckscher Park bike path where we will wind our way along the Great South Bay on our return leg to Timber Point Golf Course.Please bring water, spare tube, and a snack if you wish.
If I do not have my power restored by Friday night, I may have to cancel this ride in the morning. Please be sure to check back here before leaving for the ride
