NOTE:
Under the Ride Level details, the "Type: Road Bike" refers to the ride will be on paved roads (rather then off road trails). Although a Road Bike is suggested for Road Bike Type rides it is not required. Hybrid and mountain bikes can be used on these rides as well provided you are comfortable with the pace outline in the Posted Ride. This ride calendar is for club rides, club meetings, club event posts and shop rides only.
For Other Events in our area and off Long Island check out the "Other Rides & Events calendar" and the "Forums"

Off to Wildwood State Park, with a deli stop just prior to the park. Wildwood has plenty of picnic tables for outside social distancing, and restrooms are available. This is a C+ ride, with one short hill (which you can walk if you wish) getting into and out of the park.To join this ride, contact Bill Gravitz at 631-356-3036 with your SBRA, cell and emergency numbers, full name and date of ride. Check the ride calendar the day of the ride for changes, which would be posted by 07:30am.
If you want to avoid the wind chill this winter you'll come into the woods. This will be a relatively short ride.
NOTE: Glacier should be dry enough and chance of rain will be low until later in the aftrnoon.
If I don't hear that someone is showing I may cancel the ride or do some of the more advanced trails.
SBRA insurance requires that Mtn Bike riders MUST sign a Ride Sign In sheet for each Mtn Bike ride. Please text/email me and include your name. I will email you a copy of the Ride Sign in sheet to sign and bring to the ride UNLESS you do me a favor and print it from here: https://www.sbraweb.org/sites/default/files/Ride_Sign-In_Sheet.pdf
You must have a mask on your person to ride though it's typical to be more than 15 feet a part in the woods.
Check back to this posting before leaving for the ride as Life Happens and Things Change.
Bringing it back to where it started for many of us "The Sunshine Mall". This ride will be a steady paced B+ meaning 19-21 cruising speed, wait-ups will be provided as needed, no one dropped. Short break at the Exxon station mile 17 (not sure if it's open). Great ride for those looking to check out a slightly faster level. Route posted below. As the weather is always changing, check for cancelations before heading out. Hope to see some new as well as familiar smiling faces.
Sorry I had to cancel. High winds of 23mph in the forcast.
Join me for this scenic ride, cruising speed will be 10-11 depending on the group. No one gets dropped.
We will ride around some quiet back roads of Sayville while working our way to Bayport. We'll be passing the Mansion at West Sayville and the Long Island Maritime Museum. Then off to the beach for a snack (depending on the weather). Then we'll head East to Bayport. This is the winter version, so in order to minimize our wind exposure I won't be seeking out the usual abundance of water views. Please bring water, spare tube, and a snack if you wish.
Always check back here for any changes
We will be observing social distancing, and you must have a face covering with you. Be sure you have signed the on line covid waiver.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the ride start, to allow enough time for me to get everyone signed in.
You must be a club member to go on club rides
I'm limiting the ride to 8 riders, Please text me with your Name, SBRA Member Number & Emergency Contact Number. I will return your text confirming your spot on the ride, or that its full.

This ride was originally scheduled from Eastport to Westhampton. However, since the winds there are predicted to be 24 all morning, with gusts up to 34 or 35, I am making a chenge.
CHANGE:The ride is now a Ronkonkoma Loop, where the winds are predicted to only be 17 or 18, with gusts up to 22. Since we will be protected from a lot of the wind gusts, we should have a good ride. Our break will be at the Gourmet Bagel Shop, where a bathroom is available. The ride distance will remain about the same, but I moved the start 1/2 hour later, to 10 AM.
This is a C+ ride, which will average 12.3 - 12.8. The exact route will be determined at the start, so there will not be a cue sheet for this ride. The ride distance will remain about the same, but I moved the start 1/2 hour later, to 10 AM.
NOTE #1: You must be a club member to go on club rides.
NOTE #2: rides at this time are limited. You MUST text me with your name & SBRA Member Number if you want to ride. I will return the text: YES, you have a spot…or…NO, Ride Filled...CELL #: 631-523-2129
