Kreb Cycle in Eastport is now open and its awesome! Come check it out! We will start this Saturday ride at the shop at 8am. It is an A ride, which is a 52 mile loop down Dune road, with one brief stop in Southampton at Ye Olde Bake Shoppe (cash only), then back to Eastport via Red Creek, Pleasure drive, 51. Please download route below. See you Saturday!
I'm looking to maintain a steady 20 to 23 mph cruising speed on the flats. Anyone wishing to ride a tad faster, Jeremy has a great ride out of Kreb Eastport. We are trying to provide a little something for everyone: North Shore, South Shore, Fast, and Faster. So take a pick and enjoy!
Please text me if you want to come on this ride: 631 331 5642 name, SBRA#, emerg phone #. Max 12 riders.
There are no bathrooms at the start of the ride, I believe we can go into Southaven park campsite if necessary otherwise it is Netties!
We will explore some of the inlets in Center and East Moriches before going to Netties (mile 26) where you can purchase delicious snacks, enjoy the rocking chairs and use the bathrooms.
The route is gently rolling with about 20' of climbing per mile!!!
Going out to Manorville ..Note that we will be parking over by Friendly's . Pease text me to let me know you are coming and If you are new to the ride i need your SBRA # and emergency contact Number. All others that have been joining all along I have your info.
Join me for this C+/B- ride, which will average 13.6 - 14.0. This is my new route and the distance will be around 26 to 27.As such, there will not be a cue sheet, and weather/wind could determine changes to the route. We will take our break at the Timber Point Golf Course, where snacks and bathrooms are available. No one gets dropped and we will be observing spacing rules, etc.
Park on the south side of the train station.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the ride start, to allow enough time for me to get everyone signed in and to "get yourself" ready.
NOTE #1: You must be a club member to go on club rides.
NOTE #2: I am limiting the number of riders on my rides, so you MUSTtext me with your Name, SBRA Member Number, and Emergency Contact phone number if you want to ride. I will return the text: YES, you have a spot…or…NO, Ride Filled...CELL #: 631-523-2129
This ride includes about 15 miles along Dune Road, with several active Osprey nests along the way, along with ocean and bay views. Along the way we will check out a food truck, with food, drinks and ice cream available, for a possible stop on our way back. Porta-potties are available along the route, and a rest room is available in the King Kullen parking lot. On our return from the Inlet, we can stop at the food truck. We also have an option of stopping at a pocket park in Westhampton Beach, seconds from the Beach Bakery with its rest rooms and goodies. Shinnecock inlet has great views, and benches. A great place to relax and watch the boats and fisherman trying to catch their dinner. To join, text Bill G. at 631-356-3036. with your name and date of ride. Check the ride calendar the day of the ride for changes, which would be postd by 7:00am.
We'll try to prove it on this ride, where we'll head east on Dune Road and stretch our legs to Ponquogue Beach. After a short stop at the beach, it's time to turn around and head back on Dune Road. So you'll get to double up those Dune Road miles and increase your speed endurance.
To keep from really killing people, we'll stay together on the return leg and ride like a team. If the group wants more miles, there will be options for that, too!
So, dust off the bike, get out the big bottles, dial-up the video and let's ride! See you at South Street School!
I'm going to do this ride one more time since you like it. Next weekend we will do Manorville or Eastport. The route will take us to Farmingville, Middle Island, and Ridge. Around mile 20 there will be a rest stop at Taco Bell or Dunkin Donuts. From there we will head back through Middle Island, Yaphank and finally back to the start. Pulling is always appreciated, never required. There will be a break-a-way or two for those that want to go. If it gets too hot we can cut the ride down by about 2 miles.
The average pace for the ride will be between 14.9 to 15.0 mph +/- depending on the roads, wind direction, rider ability, tailwinds, downhills, break-a-ways and other conditions. All of these conditions could change the final average one way or the other. Naturally, the road speed will be higher (15 -17 mph.) to produce the average.
Any cancellation due to weather, or any other circumstance will be posted no later than 0715 if necessary. If you have question about the ride just text me at 631.484.3490. Eventually my phone and I will meet in a reasonable amount of time...
DON'T LET THE C+ CLASS FOOL YOU. IT'S MY USUAL 11-12.5MPH RIDE WHICH WE HAVE BEEN DOIND ALL SEASON. DUE TO THE ISSUE OF GOING OVER THE C CLASS (11-12MPH), I WILL NOW POST RIDES AS A C+. THIS SHOULD MAKE THE POWERS TO BE HAPPY.
25 mile ride at an 11-12.5 pace from Calverton to Briermere. If the Buffalos are out we can view them. If you look really hard way out in the field and see the ones with the small holes they are the ones used for burgers. The larger holes are for 1/4 pounders. Bring water. No one gets left behind and newbies always well taken care of. Any cancellation will be before 8:00am. Arrive 15 minutes early to get ready and checked in. Actual distance and speed depends on the group, tide, position of moon, wind and ride leaders disposition.
This will be a slow C+ because of the heat and humidity, there are bathrooms available, as well as tasty delights no one left behind ever! Questions call or text cell phone 631-484-1650
