NOTE:
Under the Ride Level details, the "Type: Road Bike" refers to the ride will be on paved roads (rather then off road trails). Although a Road Bike is suggested for Road Bike Type rides it is not required. Hybrid and mountain bikes can be used on these rides as well provided you are comfortable with the pace outline in the Posted Ride. This ride calendar is for club rides, club meetings, club event posts and shop rides only.
For Other Events in our area and off Long Island check out the "Other Rides & Events calendar" and the "Forums"

I'd appreciate a call or text at the cell # below if you plan on riding with me.
** If there are no responses, I'll leave from home as the ride start.
I've decided to do to the same route as last week with minor changes ... otherwise too much too soon.
We'll wait at the top of all the hills if necessary as those that are willing to work the hills deserve that credit. If necessary we'll finish with a B- pace but the hills will make it a B/B+ effort. Make sure you bring two bottles to hydrate with. Deli stop at the 16 mile point in Setauket.
This will be about a 30 mile, B ride to McDonald's in Manorville. Distance and average are heat dependent. PLEASE BE FLEXABLE.
SHORT -- GULP and GO Water stops: 2 going & 1 on way back. MORE IF NEEDED
Pulls appreciated.
THE FINE PRINT, PLEASE NOTE: A fair question that is often asked is what will be the ride's average? This ride is posted as a B; however, recently our averages for previous rides have been in the lower 16s. Why is it posted as a B and not a B/B+? I want the group to realize that the average will be lower (closer to mid 15s) if it is hot, windy, or any rider is having maintaining the higher speeds. I know this is a vague explanation, but it's the best I got. The expectation is that the averge will be in the high 15s to low 16s. Hope this helps. Please text me if you have any questions.
Off to Quogue, with some miles on Dune Road (heading East on Dune means very little traffic). Stopping for restrooms at mile 8 and 25 in Westhampton Beach. Restrooms also available at the Quogue Preserve. Bring snacks and drinks, there will be a rest stop in a pocket park in Westhampton Beach, just a minute walk to the Beach Bakery and 2 minutes to a 7-11. To join, text your full name and date of ride to Bill G. at 631-356-3036. Check the ride calendar the day of the ride for changes, which would be posted by 07:15am.
For this FLAT 18-22 mile ride the Average speed is 11.5-12.5mph depending on riders, wind, tide, position of moon and leaders disposition. Nobody gets left behind and newbies always welcome and well taken care of. Any cancellation will be before 8:00am. No need to text me.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the ride start, to allow enough time for me to get everyone signed in and to "get yourself" ready.
Join me for this evening ride from SAYVILLE around the surrounding areas. This will be an easy C+, with a ride average between 12 - 12.8. The exact route will be determined at the start, so there will not be a cue sheet for this ride. We are leaving promptly at 6 PM. It is recommended that you wear bright/reflective clothing and have working lights on your bike. Please be prompt getting to the ride start, so we may depart on time.
Park on the SOUTH side of the train station.
NOTE: I am limiting the number of riders. You MUST text me with your name, Emergency Contact phone number, and SBRA Member Number if you want to ride. I will return the text: YES, you have a spot…or…NO, Ride Filled...CELL #: 631-523-2129
