NOTE:
Under the Ride Level details, the "Type: Road Bike" refers to the ride will be on paved roads (rather then off road trails). Although a Road Bike is suggested for Road Bike Type rides it is not required. Hybrid and mountain bikes can be used on these rides as well provided you are comfortable with the pace outline in the Posted Ride. This ride calendar is for club rides, club meetings, club event posts and shop rides only.
For Other Events in our area and off Long Island check out the "Other Rides & Events calendar" and the "Forums"

On this ride we'll leave from the parking lot across from the Maples Bar for a run out to Westhampton Beach, where we'll have a short stop. This will be a little different than those down-island rides, as the road shoulders are (mostly) nicer out east, and the traffic lights are few!
Since there is limited parking, you can also park on the side street behind the post office.
On the way to Westhampton Beach, we'll ride down Route 24 to Riverhead. Then we'll pick up County Roads 104 and then 31-where we'll ride up the rise past the airport.
After our stop, we'll follow the south route through Remsenberg and Eastport, leading us to Center Moriches and finally back to Manorville.
The pace will be a solid B+; so there will be no jacking-up the pace and we will have a regroup if someone gets dropped.
As always, check the post before the ride for any last minute changes.
If you plan to do my ride then please contact me by texting to 631-988-6557 ... else I may not wait for the posted Ride Start time if I think I'm going to ride alone or do someone else's posted ride.
It will be a SLOW ride up the hills there will be 1800+ feet of climbing. I've posted a C but the effort will be a B+ ;-). I hope the finishing pace may be more like a C+ ride but I will go as slow as necessary for anyone who shows up to suffer with me.
Off to Shinnecock Inlet, with scenic water view stops. Bring snacks and drinks for the viewing stops. Restrooms coming and going. Brief stop at the Quogue Preserve. Around mile 30 we stop at a pocket park in Westhamton Beach, near a bakery and 7-11 and restrooms. To join this ride, text Bill G. at 631-356-3036 with date of ride and your full name. Check the ride calendar the day of the ride for changes, which would be posted by 07:30am.
This C+ ride of 18-23 miles will average 11.5-12.5mph. Bring snack/hydration as route depends on wind, tide, position of moon and ride leaders disposition. Newbies welcome and well taken care of and nobody gets left behind. Any cancellation will be by 8am. No need to text, email, phone, send message by carrier pidgeon or smoke signal me. Just show up 15-20 minutes before ride start to get your s**t together.
Join me for this scenic C- ride, cruising speed will be 10-11 depending on the group. No one gets dropped.
We'll head from Sayville to Bayport to Blue Point, frequently taking advantage of the breeze off the bay. We'll stop at Corey beach for a bathroom break then off to Atlantic Ave Deli for a snack. Please bring water, and a spare tube.
Please always check back here for any changes before leaving for the ride
Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the ride start so we get rolling on time.
