A mostly flat ride to visit the Lake and the completed statue of the Ronkonkoma Indian Princess. Plan to bring your snack, as bathrooms are available at the lake.
Changes or cancellation posted by 7:30 morning of ride.
This C+ ride of 18-23 miles will average 11.5-12.5mph. Bring snack/hydration as route depends on wind, tide, position of moon and ride leaders disposition. Newbies welcome and well taken care of and nobody gets left behind. Any cancellation will be by 8am. No need to text, email, phone, send message by carrier pidgeon or smoke signal me. Just show up 15-20 minutes before ride start to get your s**t together.
Park in 1st lot on the right at the north west corner.
I am filling in for Howard. This will be the usual ride to Smiths Point Beach the way Howard does it. Pulling is appreciated but not required. After the ride, we are welcomed to have some empanadas inside the restaurant. I hope you will join me.
We will follow the same route as Donna except, it will be shorter, and slower. I would like to come in between 13.8 and 14 mph +/- a tad. Trying to build up distance and speed so all of us can get back to riding a Low (14.5) B minus. In order to get this average we will be doing road speeds between 14.5 and 16 mph. Going down hill, or with the wind at your back will be faster. We will take a break at Wertheim at 15 miles and then head back. Things could change slightly due to the road conditions and the wind. At the end of the ride you are welcome to stop in and have an empanada cooked by Eduardo and drink some aguapanela. NOTE: This ride will come in on the high end of a C+/B- Please read the possible road speeds.
If you have any questions or concerns please text me at 631.484.3490. Should there be a cancelation, or change it will be posted by 7:30am.
Come meet me at Bellport Municipal Parking Lot (across from Kreb’s) for a ride to Smith Point beach and Osprey. It is a C+/B- ride, averaging 13-14 MPH. The cruising speeds will be 14-16 to get the average.
I will wait-up whenever someone falls behind. No one will be dropped. If you want to join me please text me on my cell, 631-655-7801. I will let you know if you are in, or the ride is full. Please provide your name, SBRA, cell, and emergency numbers. Any changes to the ride will be posted by 7:00. The ride will be limited to 12 riders unless there is another ride leader joining me who wishes to split the ride. Once accepted onto the ride if you need to cancel for any reason please text me as early as possible.
Come join us for what I hope will be a series of Out East rides over the next few months on the Southfork, Northfork, Shelter Island and at least one, maybe more rides to Montauk. We start things off with a fun 45 mile Southfork ride. All weekday Southfork rides like this one will start at 10:00 AM at the Hampton Bays LIRR train station (there is free parking) to avoid the morning trade parade traffic jam that exists during the morning rush beyond Hampton Bays.
This ride heads out from Hampton Bays along some scenic roads through the Hamptons making its way to East Hampton, where we will stop for a break at Georgica Beach. Please bring a sandwich or snack for the break. From there, we eventually head north to one of my favorite roads, Bull Path, a very lightly traveled 2 mile plus road that starts with a climb at pretty easy grades followed by a truly fun three-quarter of a mile downhill run. Hence, "Ride the Bull".
We then make our way, mostly via back roads, to Bridgehampton with another climb just before the East Hampton airport. Hopefully, we get to Bridgehampton with time to allow for an optional stop for ice cream, before heading over to the Bridgehampton train station, where we will take the 3:20 train back to Hampton Bays (fare is $3.25 regular or $1.50 senior). Train ride is supposed to be about 23 minutes.
Please bring sufficient hydration, a sandwich or snack for our break at Georgica, a bungee cord for the train and an upbeat inquisitive attitude ready to explore. Also, pleaase let me know if you will be joining us, by texting me at 917-921-5358 9also text with any questions). Registraion may have to be limited, as we don't want to overwhelm the train on the return trip. I will share the final (i'm always tweaking) ridewithgps file with those who contact me.
Ride starts at Islip Bank of America and goes to West Bay Shore. This is a C+/B- ride, cruising at 14 to 16 mph to get an average of 13 to 14 mph. Any changes will be posted at least 90 minutes before the ride.
Camping at Smithpoint beach for the week and would like to take a swing at Fat Biking for first time at SmithPoint. We can meet at 5pm for Free Parking. Ride west side of SP.
