This route I downloaded of Ride with GPS from rotaions out of South Hampton. I'm not familiar with it but since I'm camping out a Shinnecock I figured I would like to post a Sunday ride. The start point is at Shinnecock County Park East. They start charging for parking at 8am so start will be 7:30am. After ride we can have breakfast at my Camper, Eggs, Pancakes, Bacon, and Sausage.
Please text me by Friday if you plan to ride so i can prepare how much food I need to bring.
This 18-24 mile ride will now be on the SOUTH SIDE of the Ronk train station near the Western end of the parking lot closest to Railroad Ave. Bring a snack and hydration. Route depends on riders ability, wind, position of moon and ride leaders disposition. As always newbies always well taken care of and no one gets dropped. Wheels down at posted time as "Daylights A Burnin" so get there 15 minutes before. Any cancellation will be by 7:30am. No need to text me, just "show n go".
Coming from LIE take Ronkonkoma Ave. South, just over RR bridge make 3 right turns, parking is on right, corner of Railroad AVe and Ronkonkoma Ave.
Coming from Lakeland Ave. Sunrise Hwy., go North just pass Vets Hwy make right on Smithtown Ave (following alongside of airport), just before bridge make right on Railroad Ave, parking is on left side (go past one way entrance and make 1st available left into lot).
This will be a LOW B- ride, which means we will be coming in with an average between 14 and 14.5. The route will be the usual Sunday route except we will go to Hecksher and do the short loop. We have be doing this when we were riding a C+/B- so you know you can do it. In order to get this average the road speeds will be between 14.5 and 16.5 mph. Going downhill, or with the wind at your back will be faster. The main objective is to finish the ride without being too concerned about the average. The average will depend mainly on the wind, the hills, and who shows up. We will stay together and there will be one or two break-a-ways for those who want. We wil l take a bathroom break in the park and a fuel stop at the bagle shop
Pulls are always appreciated. There will be GOOD STUFF after the ride.
If you have any questions or concerns please text me at 631.484.3490. Should there be a cancelation, or change it will be posted by 7:15am.
Today's’ route to Great River will change up a bit towards the end of the ride - if the wind is in our favor; making this route pretty flat except for 2 overpasses. We will go the usual route heading south using the Connetquot Park bike bath. We’ll work our way down to Heckscher Park, do a loop where one can stretch the legs a bit if desired. At these speeds Pulling is Important ! I would like to keep the road speed between 17 - 19 mph and come in at an average Hi 15 and Lo 16. Cyclists coming with "E" bikes must stay at the end of the bike line. Good stuff after the rid.
