NOTE:
Under the Ride Level details, the "Type: Road Bike" refers to the ride will be on paved roads (rather then off road trails). Although a Road Bike is suggested for Road Bike Type rides it is not required. Hybrid and mountain bikes can be used on these rides as well provided you are comfortable with the pace outline in the Posted Ride. This ride calendar is for club rides, club meetings, club event posts and shop rides only.
For Other Events in our area and off Long Island check out the "Other Rides & Events calendar" and the "Forums"
To go more quickly back or forward "several" months click the "Year" link here or at the top of page.
NOTE: I changed the ride from C+/B-to a C+ due to the heat. This is a scenic ride with views of the Peconic River, farms and vineyards, and possibly a quick stop to view the L.I. Sound. There will be a stop in Cutchogue at a deli for a snack and bathrooms. No need to contact me. Check the ride calendar the day of the ride for changes, which would be posted by 07:00am.
Riding out east to my favorite view of mud creek. Stopping at Mattituck on the way back for optional ice cream.
A high end B- ride along scenic roads.
If you want to avoid having to pay to park get to Indian Island before 8:00. There will be an optional picnic following the ride for those that have signed up and paid for it. See the flier for details of the picnic - https://www.sbraweb.org/node/41176
NOTE:See you at the start, where we will decide if the weather will let us get this ride in !
REMEMBER to bring two water bottles, to stay hydrated in this heat !
What would an SBRA Picnic be without ants, Yellow Jackets and Thunderbirds? The start will be at the exotic site of Indian Island, so how about some island music :) https://youtu.be/eEep67akIn4
We will play nice and keep everyone together on this paceline ride. Everyone will get a chance to pull at the front, but there will be no jacking-up the pace like a bunch of Freds! We will ride like a team!
Our ride will be a controlled paceline ride that will take us out onto the North Fork and along Peconic Bay through Mattituck and Cutchogue. We may have a short stop in Cutchogue or Southold. We will then head up through the fields and eventually back through Mattituck, Jamesport and Riverhead.
We will keep a B/B+ pace. Those looking for a faster ride can join Dennis on his B+. Average will be between 16.5 and 17 mph. This ride is replacing Joanna's.
The club's Annual Picnic is back! Many ride levels will be available, so pick the ride/distance of your choice. Following the ride there will be water, food, sides, and dessert (most likely ice cream AND WATERMELON). You may bring any beverage ofyour choice, including beer and/or wine. 21-25 mile route depends on wind, riders, position of moon, tide and ride leaders disposition. Average 11.5-12.5mph. If you're there before 8am you beat the parking fee.

My ride will be a C pace and will go to Mattituck. The route will be decided the day of the ride, so no cue sheets. Bathroom, snacks, and beverages available at the halfway point break (most likely the Deli on Love Lane in Mattituck).
NOTE: The number of riders on my ride is limited, so youMUST text me with your name, SBRA Member Number, and Emergency Contact phone number if you want to ride. I will return the text: YES, you have a spot…or…NO, Ride Filled...CELL #: 631-523-2129
Slight change*****Fred McKenna will be leading this ride for me. Look for him at the ride start. l
Please join me for a scenic B/B+ ride through Peconic and then for a fabulous picnic afterwards. If you are staying for the Picinic please sign up on the website. You do not have to stay if you are pressed for time or have other obligations. if you get to the park before 8 you will not have to pay to park.
If you would like a slower, less mileage ride, then come join me. Please let me know (a few days prior) if you are joining me, otherwise I'll go with Jeff.
Susan has graciously said it was OK if I offered a slower B- ride. If there are riders who aren't quite up to a strong B- ride then perhaps you will join me.
Of course after the ride is the club sponsored picnic, which I'm looking forward to but if choose not to attend and wish to ride, join me.
If you get to the park before 8 you will not have to pay to park.
This ride is for those not going to the picnic but want to ride today. I haven't done this ride for over a year so I thought it would be nice to do it again. We will be doing a scenic ride through Eastport, Remsenburg and Westhampton Beach. The average pace will be between 14.0 and 14.5 mph. +/- (which is in the low B- area) depending on the wind, road conditions, geese, ducks, squirrels, and rabbits. Road speed will be between 14.5 & 17 mph. We might end up with an extra mile but that's it. Pulling is always appreciated. You know the drill.
There will be a short break-a-way along Dune Road; we will NOT be going to the big bridge.
Around mile 24 we’ll stop at the Beach Bakery for some goodies and a bathroom break before heading back to the start.
My cell number is 631.484.3490; text anytime if you have questions about this ride, or need directions to the start. Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations which will be posted no later than 0715 if necessary.
