NOTE:
Under the Ride Level details, the "Type: Road Bike" refers to the ride will be on paved roads (rather then off road trails). Although a Road Bike is suggested for Road Bike Type rides it is not required. Hybrid and mountain bikes can be used on these rides as well provided you are comfortable with the pace outline in the Posted Ride. This ride calendar is for club rides, club meetings, club event posts and shop rides only.
For Other Events in our area and off Long Island check out the "Other Rides & Events calendar" and the "Forums"

Join me for this C ride, which will average 11.2 - 11.7; no one gets dropped and we will be observing spacing rules, etc. Ride route will be determined by the road conditions; decision to be made the morning of the ride; no cue sheets. We will either head to Blue Point or to Oakdale for our break; there will be a bathroom stop.
The number of riders is limited, so if you want to ride, text me (631-523-2129) with your SBRA Member Number and Emergency Contact phone number. I will respond to your text and let you know if you have a spot on the ride. Once the ride is filled, I will change to post to indicate that.
Let's try this again... I had to cancel the previous try, thanks to a cold!
Join the Thunderbirds for the first of our Century training rides. These will be some rides to get in shape for the Bloomin' Metric in Connecticut and the SBRA RxR Century. This will be a paceline ride and you should have gotten in some rides already, so you're ready to work-up to the longer distance training rides you'll need to do those big rides. The plan is to ramp-up the distance and speed over the next rides, so we can ride a century at a B/B+ or B+ pace. Let's keep everyone together, so everyone can enjoy the ride.
Remember: "To finish first, first you must finish!" (-Sir Stirling Moss (?)). So, don't push the pace in the beginning!
This week we'll leave from the Eastport Kreb Cycle, (park in the back section of the lot at the northwest corner).
The route takes us along the middle section of the Century, through the rolling terrain in Westhampton and Hampton Bays. We'll have a food stop at 23 miles at the western end of Southampton at a Goldberg's Bagels. We'll then return back through Quogue and Westhampton on a slightly flatter route.
This ride is hills 101. We ride to the Setauket lighthouse (where we have our snack) and back. There is no bathroom on this ride. Doing this ride over the weeks makes us stronger on hills and on the flats. We ride together on the flatter sections and when we get to the hills we take them at our own pace and meet up at the top. New hill riders are welcome. Any questions, please text me at 631-835-1454.
Please let me know if you're coming on the ride (text above). If there are no takers, I will leave from home. Any change or cancellation will be posted by 8am morning of ride.
Come join me for my inaugural ride as a ride leader. Mike F and Lynn F are away, so I will pinch hit for them this week. We will do a little of the same meandering around Great River and East Islip, but I will also add a twist or two in. Distance and classification will be the same as what you are used to on a Tuesday afternoon before the tacos. Please arrive ten minutes before the start time and be ready to roll at 3:00. Hope to see you there.
