Hybrid and mountain bikes can be used on these rides as well provided you are comfortable with the pace outline in the Posted Ride. Ok, the intercept and Breakaway has been successful and gonna continue this. Should we get to many riders for the Calverton 41 (Brian Toole ride) we will (My Group) start the ride a minute before the Calverton 41. I have designed a 65 mile route but based off of Wind and Legs we can cut it back to 56 miles. Prepare for 65 miles but understand we can reduce it to 56 miles.
To better assist the Breakaway my group will fall to the back of the Paceline after Halsey Manor Rd but before David Terry Rd. I don't want to create any confusion at that Intersection for Brian's Group.
Old School Shelter Island BBB route leaving from Mattituck.
We take the back roads out to Greenport, ferry to SI, grand tour of SI, and the ferry back to Greenport.
Round-trip ferry fare is $6, cash only.
Lunch stop at Greenport on our return, so bring plenty of water and snacks, since that's at mile 45.
This is a B pace ride, group stays together, nobody gets dropped. Stronger riders are welcome, but we will be riding at a moderate B pace. We usually finish the ride between 2pm and 3pm.
Route is flat to rolling to and from Greenport, and rolling to hilly on SI.
Meet at the Mattituck Marketplace shopping center, corner Main Rd and Factory Ave. Park at the Factory Ave end of the lot.
Any ride changes will be posted by 6 am the morning of the ride.
Time to ruffle your feathers and fly with the Thunderbirds to Westhampton Beach!
We'll leave the Dayton Avenue School for a controlled (we keep everyone together)paceline ride, for a stop at the Beach Bakery or Goldberg's in Westhampton Beach. Along the way we'll ride through Eastport and Remsenberg to get to Westhampton Beach.
The return will take us back up the Casa Basso through Eastport, and back through Manorville.
In the future, we may do this route and add in the loop to Cupsogue for an additional 12 miles. A coming attraction!
After a trip to Smithpoint we tour the Mastic Riviera before a stop at Osprey park beach (mile 19). We will attempt ice cream (opens at 10am) before returning to the start.
A very flat scenic ride with some areas that have many turns that will slow us down, also some longstraight stretches where we can go faster.
Join me for this C+ ride, which will average 11.8 - 12.4; no one gets dropped and we will be observing spacing rules, etc. Ride route will be determined by the road conditions; decision to be made the morning of the ride; no cue sheets. We will either head to Blue Point or to Oakdale for our break; there will be a bathroom stop.
The number of riders is limited, so if you want to ride, text me (631-523-2129) with your SBRA Member Number and Emergency Contact phone number. I will respond to your text and let you know if you have a spot on the ride. Once the ride is filled, I will change to post to indicate that.
Heading to the market for a break and yummy food. Of course we'll take a few roads you haven't riden on before. Check back day of for any changes by 8am.
