NOTE:
Under the Ride Level details, the "Type: Road Bike" refers to the ride will be on paved roads (rather then off road trails). Although a Road Bike is suggested for Road Bike Type rides it is not required. Hybrid and mountain bikes can be used on these rides as well provided you are comfortable with the pace outline in the Posted Ride. This ride calendar is for club rides, club meetings, club event posts and shop rides only.
For Other Events in our area and off Long Island check out the "Other Rides & Events calendar" and the "Forums"

New route- maybe? I will either head over to the Edgewood Preserve Bike Trails or head down to Babylon town dock (the usual route).
Either way- The route includes both trail and on road riding.
Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations, which will be posted no later than 8:00am if necessary. My cell is 347-677-4164; call or text if you have questions about the ride or need directions to the start location. DN
fat or phat....??? we begin by riding the shoreline on our way to the cove... this will be a guided tour through the cove, not a quest for trophies or crowns.... rsvp to ensure the ride is a go
Wakey, Wakey! Time to get up and start a new year, and flush all those toxins out of your body from New Year's Eve. We'll be doing a moderate spin ride out to Riverhead, for some coffee and bagels to clear those hung-over minds.
This will be a fun ride, with no surges or attacks! We will do some paceline work, but this will be a no one gets dropped ride! If the wind gets strong, we can look at alternate routes.
Note the Ride Start on Rt. 112! (NEXT WEEK'S Start will be at Granny Road). Doing Friday's Overton since there's a chance of precip on Friday morning.
Also, the Class of this ride may be adjusted to Multi-Level if faster riders commit to showing I'll be changing the Classification and I'll be riding slower.
Last week we did Wild Turkey #2 so this we'll try "BD#4 More" ... we'll definitely do the Rock Garden (there's an easy go around if you want to skip) ...
If you're a Begineer or Intermediate rider then come along anyway ... CLIMB designed Overton with a main loop with the Black Diamonds as loops off the Main (Blue) trail ... you can always do a wait up and/or some of the easier BDs.
Hopefully the Rt112 metal crusher and Mill Rd. compost machines will be quite ;-).
Check back to this posting early Thursday morning ... as Life Happens and Things Change.
Also, NO need to arrive 20 minutes early and over heat in the car or freeze outside ... just arrive in time to get ready to leave at the posted Start Time ... If you're running late just call my cell and we'll wait a bit.
The destinatination has been changed to Quogue Preserve. We will be stopping in Westhampton Beach for our break. For info: contact Bill G. at 631-356-3036. Check the ride calendar the day of the ride for changes, which will be posted by 08:00am day of ride.
Looks like we will not dodge the rain this time ☹️
**NOTE: Bike shop will NOT be open until AFTER ride, though! Plan accordingly.**
This is the long-standing Kreb Shop Ride. This week, we’ll do the extended 41 mile route (East route plus 8 mile Mill/Connecticut/Grumman/Line Rd loop tacked on after The Maples rest stop).
We do scheduled wait-ups (and as necessary), in addition to one brief rest stop at roughly the 15 mile mark. Please bring adequate drinks and nutrition, as the rest stop occurs in a parking lot (no food/drinks/restrooms available).
Please park your car in the Bellport Municipal Parking Lot located at Bellport Lane & Bell Street, and then ride bike half a block over to the Kreb Bike Shop parking lot at 10 Bell Street, to sign-in for ride and hear the pre-ride briefing.
Sorry folks, I'm canceling the ride this morning, the roads are too wet.
Please join me for my first ride in 2020! Let's begin our new year riding strong, safe and by having some fun! We'll be starting at Holtsville Ecology Center...stopping at mile 10 for our break with quick stops along the way. We'll maintain a consistent C+/B- pace. Let's work off those calories before the party and have a great ride!
Cue sheets will be provided. After driving the route, I must say, this is going to be alot fun. I'm really looking forward to doing it and hope you can join me!
Since winter weather will always play a factor, please check back for any changes (in which case, this ride will be moved to Sunday morning) any changes/cancellations will be made prior to 7:00 AM (on the 4th).
I am not going to ride today due to the expected wind gusts..
This ride is starting later than usual so anyone that went to the Holiday Party has time to recover and come out for the ride. It will be a B B/+ however the lower end of the range so around a 16 - 16.3 mph average. It is still winter even though we are enjoying some beautiful days and we are just out to enjoy the day, and to work off some of the indulgences from the party.
Please check the morning of the ride for any changes.
Let's see if we can squeeze in a ride this weekend, after the bad weather clears out! Let's get out for the weekend https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TGIkOgQQPls , (there is also a promo video out there on the Web).
We'll keep this at a B/B+ pace, and keep everyone together, so no one is solo in the wind. The break will be in Riverhead - for some coffee and bagels.
This is the just-under 40 mile route from Vets Park in Calverton. There will be NW wind at 21mph at ride start but it will ease up a bit in second hour.
I'm thinking this will be a non-stop ride but if we feel like adding 3 miles to route, we can stop at our fave gas station on Edwards & Mill. Conversely, if the wind really sucks, we can take a vote and shorten this to 31 miles instead.
Winter pace. I was off the bike for a 9-day stretch and I'm also recovering from a throat infection.
For now planning to do Meadowlark after precip dries up. Check back to this posting early Monday to check as anymore precip will cause a change in venue. Meadowlark is a short trail of ~ 5miles but I don't think we found it necessary to do twice as it was highly technical which takes a toll. Here's the CLIMB description: "Intermediate to advanced single track with many logs to ride over. Tight, twisty and technical terrain with some hills to climb."
Also, NO need to arrive 20 minutes early and over heat in the car or freeze outside ... just arrive in time to get ready to leave at the posted Start Time ... If you're running late just call my cell and we'll wait a bit.
Remember to check back as Life Happens and Things Change!
We will be leaving Bank of America and head to Great River and East Islip for a 20 mile ride. The ride will be at a B- pace with an average speed of around 14.5 to 15mph and road speeds that will reach 16 to 18 mph.
Changes or cancelation will be posted by 1:00pm day of ride.
If you have any questions concerning this ride, call Mike at 516 448-8545.
The venue, TIME and classification of this ride HAS changed to Manorville Hills (I will lead a B level before John's ride catches us ;-) ... Please check this posting again after 7:30 AM
Remember to check back to this posting before leaving for the ride as a dusting of snow is expected ... if no snow than the venue will probably be changed to Calverton.
BSP has a good single track for Begineers and Intermediate riders. With the strong winds we have had there may be some clearing work to be done as we ride. No one gets left behind in the woods!
We'll head north from the parking lot entrance and swing around to the south up to Rt25.
No need to arrive 20 minutes early and cook in the car or freeze outside ... Please just be ready to ride at the posted start time! Running late? Call my cell # below and we'll wait a bit.
Check back to this posting a Life Happens and Things Change!
Usual route to Manorville McDonalds. Note: This is a winter maintenance ride; therefore, those that wish to do a faster pace should consider a different ride. On Monday I covered for Bill. The ride was 32 miles at a 16mph pace with a final average of 15.8. Depending on weather of course, you can expect that we will repeat those numbers.
We'll do the Intermediate trail and some fire roads. The moon will be high in the sky and ~ 98% full.
Check back to this posting early Thursday afternoon ... as Life Happens and Things Change.
Also, No need to arrive 20 minutes early and cook in the car or freeze waiting to ride ... just be there in time to start at the posted Ride Start time....

Let's suit-up and get ready to take advantage of the Spring-like weather, with a run out to Riverhead for a bagel and/or coffee. The return will take us up through some of the farms, before we head back along the river and then to Grumman Boulevard.
They'll be plenty of road for some paceline fun, and some rolling terrain to keep things interesting.

Fingers crossed that the weather is on our side for this ride! There will be quick breaks as needed, I'm not certain if the restrooms will be open at the Ecology Center prior to the ride, so please allow ample time to stop (if needed) prior to arriving at the starting location.
Cue sheets will be provided.
Please check back on this post for any changes/cancellations to this ride.
Shoreham South has a good single track for Begineers and those Intermediate riders that do not want to deal with technical challenges. With the strong winds we have had there may be some clearing work to be done as we ride. We'll not be pushing the pace and do waitups at the fire road crossings. No one gets left behind in the woods!
Park in the south-west corner of the school/library parking lot where there's a sign for the exercise track. We'll head south and do part of the trail on the yellow blaze.
No need to arrive 20 minutes early and cook in the car or freeze outside ... Please just be ready to ride at the posted start time! Running late? Call my cell # below and we'll wait a bit.
Check back to this posting a Life Happens and Things Change!
A ride out to Main Road Biscuit where the deer and the buffalo roam.Plan on a steady 20 – 21 mph (without the 28 mph surges.)Since Jim Drago will be resting at home with his whip, we can spend a few more minutes at Main Road Biscuit. The weather looks to be great.I hope to see you.
Posting just in case the rain holds off so please check the morning of the ride for any changes. Out to Manorville usual route. All stay together lower b/b+ pace.
It's off to Manorville. The average pace for the ride will be between 14.0 to 15.0 mph +/- depending on the roads, wind direction, rider ability or other conditions. Naturally, the road speed will be higher (15 -16.5 mph.) to produce the average. A rest/ food stop at McDonald’s or the bagel shop is on the schedule around mile 12. There are a few places along the route where leg stretches can be done for those who wish to do so. There is no obligation for anyone to do this; you can hang back with me.
Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations which will be posted no later than 8:00am, if necessary. My cell number is 631.484.3490; call or text me anytime if you have questions about the ride
Join me on a leisurely ride on the backroads of Calverton amd Manorville. We will make a brief rest/snack stop at McDonald's in Manorville or the Bean & Bagel in Calverton (group will decide). Leader will maintain a 12-14mph cruising speed. No one will be dropped. In the event of an inclement weather ride cancellation, we can meet at the Bean & Bagel at 10am for brunch. Changes will be posted by 8am. Call me at 631 846-7825 if you have any questions.
Update – 1/11/2020 8PM – The ride is cancelled, winds are supposed to be upward of 23mph; did a windy ride yesterday. I’m not feeling a repeat. There might be rain as well.
Today's’ route to Great River will change up a bit towards the end of the ride, if the wind is in our favor; making this route pretty flat except for 2 overpasses. We will go the usual route heading south using the Connetquot Park bike bath. We’ll work our way down to Heckscher Park, do a loop where one can stretch the legs a bit if desired.
The average pace for this ride will be between 14.0 & 15.0 +/- mph, or what conditions allow. The road speed will be between 15 and 17.0 mph, or slower if needed for safety concerns.
Please DO NOT PARK in the Meat Farms parking lot. Use the west side of the bank if the east side is full. Thanks!
We’ll be making a rest stop around mile 19 at the deli/bakery. The route back will be determined by the wind direction. Good Stuff after the Ride. Not sure what good stuff; it's always a surprise.
Any cancellations due to unforeseeable circumstances, or weather related problems will be posted by 8:00am. If you have any questions about this ride, or the start location, please call or text my cell, 631-484-3490.
We will be at the ride start. The route will be a looping route through Lake Grove, Stony Brook and St. James so that, if necessary, we can easily get back to the start at mile 6 or mile 10. Beautiful, mild day. Hopefully, we will avoid or bike with the wind! Let's stretch our legs a bit this afternoon :).
Who knows? The rain is supposed to stop, it will be 60 degrees and maybe the wind will die down.
Leisurely ride through St. James with a coffee stop halfway at Paradise Cafe.
Reminders:
*Make sure your tires are at the correct pressure!!! (pressure is stamped on the tire on one side).
*Bring your water bottle!!! *Bring your helmet!!!
Changes or cancellation will be posted no later than 11am day of ride. Might be a lovely day to cycle by then. Be sure to check back morning of ride!!! Questions? My email is [frchtchr@hotmail.com]. Day of ride, my cell is 631-835-1454.
Note the Ride Start at Granny Road. We will start by riding up the fire road and enter the woods just before Bd 3&4.
We'll try "BD#4 More" early ... we'll definitely do the Rock Garden and Wild Turkey 2 (there's a easy go arounds if you want to skip) ...

Park in the lot across from Kreb Cycle for an easy meander to Patchogue, just to get out on the bike! Check back for any changes which would be posted by 7 am.
Cruising at C+ as I'm working through some issues. Some minor hills. A few places where strong riders can shoot ahead. Break at about mile 16 at Dunkin'.
Changes posted no later than 8am morning of ride. Questions before ride, please email me at [frchtchr@hotmail.com]. Morning of ride, my cell is 631-835-1454.
I’m not a golfer, but there’s a saying in golf, probably from Tom Moore, that goes like this:“it’s hard to swing easy, and easy to swing hard.”Well, the same goes for cycling, it’s hard to ride easy, and easy to ride hard. This will be a hard ride, we are going to ride easy.A purposeful zone 1, very low zone 2, or for those that are zoneless, a steady 17 - 17.5 mph.Anyone wishing to change those parameters will be on their own.So come out for a hard ride.I hope to see you.
This morning it might be nice to take a ride through Bellport and Patchogue stopping for a break at Mickey D’s around mile 20. The average pace will be between 14.0 to 15.0 mph depending on the roads, wind direction, dew point, and other conditions. Naturally, the road speed will be higher (15 -16.5 mph.) to produce the average. Depending on the wind and the route back we might be +/- a mile.
Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations which will be posted no later than 8:00am if necessary. My cell phone number is 631-484-3490; call or text anytime if you have questions about this ride.

looks likes a cold windy morning....let's ride a trail!!! pace will be set by the riders....multiple groups are an option..... i will not be looking for trophies or crowns please rsvp via a text (no rsvps=no ride)
Maybe we'll get to ride at the start of some light snow ... a beautiful hush in the woods if the range is quiet! BSP has a good single track for Begineers and those Intermediate riders that do not want to deal with technical challenges. With the strong winds we have had there may be some clearing work to be done as we ride. Think of this as a Mtn Bike recovery day after working out at Cathedral Pines on Friday. We'll not be pushing the pace and do waitups at the fire road crossings. No one gets left behind in the woods!
We'll head north to the high school parking area and then swing around going down to AND across Rt 25.
No need to arrive 20 minutes early and cook in the car or freeze outside ... Please just be ready to ride at the posted start time! Running late? Call my cell # below and we'll wait a bit.
Check back to this posting a Life Happens and Things Change!
Due to being only 24 degrees at ride start and feels like 20, is just too cold to ride. It is a bit to cold for me. Sorry.
Let's try to get this ride in before the blizzard of 2020. As of now Sam Champion and Rich Hoffman are predicting the snow to start in the afternoon. We can try to get this ride in if the temperature is at least 30 at start time, and the winds aren't too much over 10. We will hopefully be riding to Manorville weather permitting at a winter B- pace. We will of course have breakfast at McDonalds in Manorville. Please check back to website on day of ride for cancellation. If necessary I will cancel no later than 8am. If any questions please do not hesitate to give me a call.
I changed this to an earlier time because of the bad weather coming later in the day. This first class will be approximately 2 hours and all indoors. If you were thinking about coming to this class this would be a great day for it! If you think you know everything about group you should come to the class. Every little tip can help with your riding skills. No need to bring your bike. Please RSVP to let me know if you are coming so I can get a head count. Thanks, Richard.
Group Riding Class – This class is for any level rider interested in learning important riding tips geared towards safety, basic group riding techniques, and etiquette. You don't have to be a high level rider to learn these techniques. The object of the class is to get all of the riders in a group to be on the same page. The class will be held at the Brookhaven Bicycle Co-Op in the Flower Fields Complex.(8 Flowerfields Unit 18) It will be a combination of CLASSROOM and road riding. Please RSVP me at [bikedoc@optonline.net] to let me know if you are going to attend. For the second class we will make a group decision on the next date. Please be aware we will be starting out with a CLASSROOM session. This will also be an open forum for any questions etc. The ride was purposely posted in the mid afternoon so it does not interfere with any ride you would normally do in the morning. The mileage will be low however, please come prepared to ride short distances to apply what was taught in the classroom. If there are any questions before that day please email me using the above email address.
This will be a C+ ride from Sayville to Patchogue, or Bellport, or Ronkonkoma ?? - direction will depend on the prevailing winds, etc. There will be a break & bathroom stop wherever we go.
This is a structured ride which will average 12.1 - 12.5.
NOTE: Park on the South Side of the train station.
The 1" of snow in my backyard hasn't washed or melted away so we'll be riding on crunchy white stuff tomorrow .... we'll be starting on BD #3 and if the logs are wet we'll walk them rather than slide off to the side. Probably skip Wild Turkey 2 and BD 4 More. Should be interesting!
We'll be a tiny bit warmer then on Friday and Saturday as it is forecast to be 24F at 9 AM. Forget the wind chill except on the top of the ridges.
More info later ... CHECK BACK on Sunday night!
No need to arrive 20 minutes early and cook in the car or freeze outside ... Please just be ready to ride at the posted start time! Running late? Call my cell # below and we'll wait a bit.

Late time start to pick up a few degrees of warmth. Lunch at McDonald's in Manorville, or the adjacent bagel or pizza shops. Check the ride calendar the day of the ride for changes, which would be posted by 09:00am. For info: contact Bill G. at 631-356-3036.
Off to Quogue Preserve, bathroom stop along the way, and at the preserve, snack break at Beach Bakery. I am posting this ride several days in advance, so weather conditions may alter all aspects of the ride. Check the ride calendar the day of the ride for changes, which would be posted by 08:30am. For info: contact Bill G. at 631-356-3036.
We do scheduled wait-ups (and as necessary), in addition to one brief rest stop at mile 15 (The Maples parking lot), followed by about 5 miles of double-pacelining before Yaphank. Please bring adequate water bottles and nutrition, as there are no food/water/restroom accommodations at the rest stop.
Please park your car in the Bellport Municipal Parking Lot located at Bellport Lane & Bell Street, and then ride bike half a block over to the Kreb Bike Shop parking lot at 10 Bell Street, to sign-in for ride and hear the pre-ride briefing.
Join us for coffee at deli on corner of S. Country at ride end.
Off to Nettie's for some great hot soup, and/or snacks. Nettie's has both outdoor and indoor seating, bathrooms, and a seating area with a fireplace. If you don't like those choices, there is a porch with rocking chairs. Weather conditions can change all aspects of the ride, so be sure to check the ride calendar by 08:30am the day of the ride for any changes. For info: contact Bill G, at 631-356-3036.
There's supposed to be rain around 11am... I'm hoping to get this ride in before the rain starts and will post any weather-related changes by 7am.
I'd rather not stop but if needed, we can take a quick break as we turn onto Halsey Manor road (mile 21). We'll keep everyone together and the cruising pace should be between 17 and 21mph (we'll adjust as needed depending on who shows up).
Some reports say the rain won't start til after 12 noon so let's try to get a short ride in. Park in lot south of Wendy's near RR tracks. We most likely will ride to Nettie's where sweets and soups are available. There are a few rollers at the beginning of the ride but we will not be doing Mill Road. Easy pace for many of us who have not been able to ride lately. If the rain starts earlier than expected I will move this ride to Sunday afternoon at 12:30pm. Changes will be posted by 7 am on Saturday. Any questions, text or call my cell, listed below.
This is the top-heavy route to Nettie's. You're pretty much almost done with ride distance after the rest stop. Bring money for coffee and the yummy baked goods!
I have it on good authority that some (or all) of SBRA'S currently-sidelined finest A riders will be making a guest appearance at our rest stop!! Also: SBRA will be presenting Nettie's with a certificate to name the location as one of SBRA'S official/preferred/authorized rest stops! <3
I've changed the Ride Class to a C+/B- as both Calverton and BSP are great trails for Begineer & Intermediate riders. If you're more comfortable at that level riding ... DON'T hesitate ... NO ONE GET DROPPED in the woods!
Hopefully Calverton dries quickly as it usually does ... if it's not dry enough I will head over to do the Shoreham trails from BSP. Currently planning to do the Roller Coaster 2x and "look Mom ... no brakes" on the return trip.
NO need to arrive 20 minutes early and over heat in the car or freeze outside ... just arrive in time to get ready to leave at the posted Start Time ...
If you're running late just call my cell and we'll wait a bit.
Remember to check back as Life Happens and Things Change!
Change – Bernie will be leading the ride for me. I have to look for my lost kitten.

We will not be on the Grumman bike path, it's closed for hunting. Ride changed from Calverton Meander to Nettie's Bakery. Brisk predicted winds could slow our pace. For info: contact Bill G. at 631-356-3036. Check the ride calendar the day of the ride for changes, which would be posted by 07:45am.
Strap on your baskets. We’re going on a picnic to Main Road Biscuit. A 56 mile endurance ride at 19 - 20 mph. Anyone looking for a hoedown, EB’s will be more than happy to oblige. I’m not getting any younger, so don’t break my shoes—A- pace.
So this got rained out on Saturday so let's try for Sunday. Easy paced ride to Nettie's Bakery for soup or sweets. Some rollers at the start but we will not be doing Mill Road. Park south of Wendy's by the RR tracks.
We will not be using the Grumman Trail, it is closed for hunting. For info: contact Bill G. at 631-356-3036. Check the ride calendar the day of the ride for changes, which would be posted by 08:00am. Note: I tend to slow my pace when rding into strong winds.
Note: Ride Start is at parking lot on RT 112! Please be on time to start at 9 AM!
I will be shuffling the Black Diamonds with this ride. We will be definitely doing Bd 3 & 4 AND BD 4 More as well as Wild Turkey and Wild Turkey 2. Do not get concerned with skipping BD2 when we pass the entrance as we'll get to it near the end of the ride. Also we will spend a few minutes exploring the NEW trail segment that enters the main trail after BD 3.
NO need to arrive 20 minutes early and over heat in the car or freeze outside ... just arrive in time to get ready to leave at the posted Start Time ...
If you're running late just call my cell and we'll wait a bit.

This ride includes several miles on Dune Road. Snack break at the Beach Bakery. Optional Pizza lunch after the ride in the Pizza place where our cars are parked. For info: contact Bill G. at 631-356-3036. Check the ride calendar the day of the ride for changes, which would be posted by 08:00am.
This is the Winter Shea hill ride route. We'll do the usuall hill portion.....little flower climb from the bottom......we'll cut out the route 24/51/111 combo.
We're NOT going to to the winter loop portion.
After we ride through Grumman we'll head back to the Maples via River road. Should make the ride about 10 miles shorter.
I have a dentist appointment in the AM, so I able to ride in the early afternoon. I am starting on the granny road lot. I am doing the entire trail, the new cyclocross loops will be done after the main trail is complete. The loops add an additional 4 miles, it is nice double track, a good way to finish the trail.
