I chose this ride because there are no major roads or beaches, so traffic will be at a minimum. The early time is necessary since the Vet's park parking lot usually fills up by 9:00 on weekends. We will be riding on the Grumman Trail, and secondary roads in Calverton and Manorville. Nettie's has outdoor tables and indoor restrooms. To join this ride, text Bill G. at 631-356-3036 with your full name and date of ride. Check the ride calendar the day of the ride for changes, which would be posted by 07:15am.

We are going to keep a strict moderate pace, so everyone gets home safe! (Those riders who have asthma or other issues, please remember to bring your meds with you).

On this ride we'll leave from the parking lot across from the Maples Bar for a run out to Westhampton Beach, where we'll have a short stop. This will be a little different than those down-island rides, as the road shoulders are (mostly) nicer out east, and the traffic lights are few!
Since there is limited parking, you can also park on the side street behind the post office.
On the way to Westhampton Beach, we'll ride down Route 24 to Riverhead. Then we'll pick up County Roads 104 and then 31-where we'll ride up the rise past the airport.
After our stop, we'll follow the south route through Remsenberg and Eastport, leading us to Center Moriches and finally back to Manorville.
The pace will be a solid B+; so there will be no jacking-up the pace and we will have a regroup if someone gets dropped.
As always, check the post before the ride for any last minute changes.
If you plan to do my ride then please contact me by texting to 631-988-6557 ... else I may not wait for the posted Ride Start time if I think I'm going to ride alone or do someone else's posted ride.

Come join us for what I hope will be a series of Out East rides over the next few months on the Southfork, Northfork, Shelter Island and at least one, maybe more rides to Montauk. We start things off with a fun 45 mile Southfork ride. All weekday Southfork rides like this one will start at 10:00 AM at the Hampton Bays LIRR train station (there is free parking) to avoid the morning trade parade traffic jam that exists during the morning rush beyond Hampton Bays.
This ride heads out from Hampton Bays along some scenic roads through the Hamptons making its way to East Hampton, where we will stop for a break at Georgica Beach. Please bring a sandwich or snack for the break. From there, we eventually head north to one of my favorite roads, Bull Path, a very lightly traveled 2 mile plus road that starts with a climb at pretty easy grades followed by a truly fun three-quarter of a mile downhill run. Hence, "Ride the Bull".
We then make our way, mostly via back roads, to Bridgehampton with another climb just before the East Hampton airport. Hopefully, we get to Bridgehampton with time to allow for an optional stop for ice cream, before heading over to the Bridgehampton train station, where we will take the 3:20 train back to Hampton Bays (fare is $3.25 regular or $1.50 senior). Train ride is supposed to be about 23 minutes.
Please bring sufficient hydration, a sandwich or snack for our break at Georgica, a bungee cord for the train and an upbeat inquisitive attitude ready to explore. Also, pleaase let me know if you will be joining us, by texting me at 917-921-5358 9also text with any questions). Registraion may have to be limited, as we don't want to overwhelm the train on the return trip. I will share the final (i'm always tweaking) ridewithgps file with those who contact me.
Ride starts at Islip Bank of America and goes to West Bay Shore. This is a C+/B- ride, cruising at 14 to 16 mph to get an average of 13 to 14 mph. Any changes will be posted at least 90 minutes before the ride.

Just returned from the UK the day before so will be jet lagged but eager to ride. I'll try for a mid B-, we'll see how I do!!!
No bathrooms at begging of the ride but we can stop at Southaven park camp site around mile 4 if needed. We will be exploring some of the very scenic cener moriches inlets with stops to look at the views and rehydrate. Netties at mile 24.
This will be an easy C+ ride around Center Moriches, that will average 11.8 - 12.6, and will be taking our break at Nettie's. There are some very nice water views along the way. No one gets dropped and we will be observing spacing rules, etc. Since the exact route will be determined as we go along, there will not be a cue sheet.
The number of riders is limited, so if you want to ride you must text me (631-523-2129) with your SBRA Member Number and Emergency Contact phone number. I will respond to your text and let you know if you have a spot on the ride. Once the ride is filled, I will change to post to indicate that.

It's going to be a hot day tomorrow, so I'm shortening the route to about 55 miles by eliminating the New Suffolk loop. We'll pick up Sound Avenue right from the ride start.
Old school Shelter Island BBB route leaving from Mattituck.
Route heads out to Greenport via Soundview Ave.
The North Ferry takes us over to Shelter Island, grand tour of SI, returning on the ferry to Greenport for lunch.
Please bring plenty of water and snacks, and $6 for the round-trip ferry fare.

Please RSVP by texting your name, mem#, emergency#, cell# to 631-655-5447, or sign-up the morning of the ride.
Meet at Mattituck Marketplace Shopping Plaza, corner Main Rd and Factory Ave.
With the predicted hot and unstable weather, let's get out on the roads early. IF, you haven't done the Thunderbirds Rides, here's your chance; we'll keep the pace in the B/B+ range this time. And you'll get to ride on less-traveled roads without tons of traffic lights. Or, if you haven't ridden with us in awhile - here's your chance! Note: this will be a paceline ride!
So, here's the details: We'll ride out to Briermere Farms zig-zagging our way out to the fields, leading us out to Briermere. After a stop at Briermere to sample their goodies, we'll head our way home through the fields, hitting the Little Goat Rise. This eventually will lead us to River and Old River Roads and the finish in Manorville.
Let's get out the word and get a good group together! The more riders, the less work for each rider!
Who knows, maybe if this ride goes large enough, we can get our picture on the cover of the Rolling Wheels !https://youtu.be/gUjcjUF-urU

We will go the usual route heading south using the Connetquot Park bike bath. We’ll work our way down to Heckscher Park, do a loop where one can stretch the legs a bit if desired. At these speeds Pulling is Important ! I would like to keep the road speed between 17 - 19 mph and come in at an average Hi 15 and Lo 16. Cyclists coming with "E" bikes must stay at the end of the bike line. Good stuff after the rid

In order to get this average the road speeds will be between 14.5 and 16.5 mph. Going downhill, or with the wind at your back will be faster. The main objective is to finish the ride without being too concerned about the average. The average will depend mainly on the wind, the hills, and who shows up. We will stay together and there will be one or two break-a-ways for those who want. We wil l take a break at the Marina and a rest stop at Wertheim about mile 10. Pulls would be appreciated.

Bellport Kreb is Back early start mean early finish Great for the working American (LOL). This will be posted as an B+/A- but most likely finish at an A- pace. The goal is to keep it under 20MPH average and NOT blow it up. For A and A+ riders this is a great warm up to the Weekend Speedy Rides. For B+ riders this is a perfect opportunity to test your Endurance and ability out. Ride out to the Maples and Regroup.
This will be an easy C+ ride around Center Moriches, that will average 11.8 - 12.6, and will be taking our break at Nettie's. There are some very nice water views along the way. Let's take a July Saturday morning and head out early to the East End to explore the magical beauty and excellent riding on Shelter Island, an island without a traffic light. This is the second of what I hope will be a series of Out East rides over the next few months on the Southfork, Northfork, Shelter Island and at least one, maybe more rides to Montauk.
The ride will be about 38 miles and provide an overview of the island. We will stop at various points to enjoy special views and some unusual attractions. We will keep a steady pace, but won't rush allowing us to enjoy the scenic vistas. Please note, Shelter Island is flat, rolling and hilly in many places, usually short hills, but somewhat frequent hills that are mostly fun with some excellent downhills. Everyone will take the hills at their own pace and we will compress to allow the group to catch up.
We will meet at the Greenport LIRR parking lot and head over to the ferry to Shelter Island at 9:30. Please arrive early to give us time to gather. Bathrooms are available at the ferry terminal on the Shelter Island side. The ferry is $6.00 for a round trip for you and your bike (make sure to get and save your round trip ticket). The fee is paid on the ferry.
IMPORTANT Please eat a good breakfast and bring substantial snacks and plenty of hydration. Also, please bring a sandwich or something for lunch, as we will not be making an indoor food stop. Near the end of the ride, we will stop by our place on Shelter Island. There will a short period of hanging out on our deck and we will have some additional snacks and drinks. Afterwards, we will make our way back to the ferry via a 3 mile route with some amazing views and homes.
Please let me know you will be joining us, by texting me at 917-921-5358, so I can judge how many folks will be on the deck. Also please bring an upbeat inquisitive attitude ready to explore. I will share the final (i'm always tweaking) ridewithgps file with those who contact me.
This route I downloaded of Ride with GPS from rotaions out of South Hampton. I'm not familiar with it but since I'm camping out a Shinnecock I figured I would like to post a Sunday ride. The start point is at Shinnecock County Park East. They start charging for parking at 8am so start will be 7:30am. After ride we can have breakfast at my Camper, Eggs, Pancakes, Bacon, and Sausage.
Please text me by Friday if you plan to ride so i can prepare how much food I need to bring.
This 18-24 mile ride will now be on the SOUTH SIDE of the Ronk train station near the Western end of the parking lot closest to Railroad Ave. Bring a snack and hydration. Wheels down at posted time as "Daylights A Burnin" so get there 15 minutes before. Any cancellation will be by 7:30am. No need to text me, just "show n go".
Coming from LIE take Ronkonkoma Ave. South, just over RR bridge make 3 right turns, parking is on right, corner of Railroad AVe and Ronkonkoma Ave.
Coming from Lakeland Ave. Sunrise Hwy., go North just pass Vets Hwy make right on Smithtown Ave (following alongside of airport), just before bridge make right on Railroad Ave, parking is on left side (go past one way entrance and make 1st available left into lot).

Going downhill, or with the wind at your back will be faster. The main objective is to finish the ride without being too concerned about the average. The average will depend mainly on the wind, the hills, and who shows up. We will stay together and there will be one or two break-a-ways for those who want. We wil l take a bathroom break in the park and a fuel stop at the bagle shop
Pulls are always appreciated. There will be GOOD STUFF after the ride.

The East End Ride series continues, this time with a concentraion on water views and beaches through parts of the Hamptons. We will head out on a journey that includes beautiful riding, amazing vistas, beaches, some incredible homes (and quite a number of absoulte monstrosities), a few dead ends where we can ohh and ahh, a hidden cove and did I mention water views. Weekday Southfork rides, like this one, start at 10:00 AM at the Hampton Bays LIRR train station (there is free parking) to avoid the morning trade parade traffic jam that exists during the morning rush beyond Hampton Bays.
Overall, we will be running much of the ride as more of a tour, enjoying the scenery, surroundings and views; nonetheless, riders should be able to maintain at least 15-16 mph on the flats when necessary (like our interludes on Montauk Highway). Our Hampton riding ends at the East Hampton train station, where we will take the 3:10 train back to Hampton Bays (fare is $3.25 regular or $1.50 senior). Train ride is supposed to be a bit over 30 minutes. Please bring a bungee cord to hang your bike.
We will not be making a stop to buy food during the ride, so, please bring lunch, snacks and sufficient hydration. We will make a few stops where one will have time for a quick snack or sandwich, but we will have an eye to make sure we make our return train. Most importantly bring an upbeat inquisitive attitude ready to explore and discover.
To join the ride or if you have questions, please text Bill Mastro at 917-921-5358. Registraion may have to be limited, as we don't want to overwhelm the train on the return trip. I will share the final (I'm always tweaking) ridewithgps file with those who contact me. Any updates or weather issues will be posted to the ride listing by 7:30 on the day of the ride.

This will be an easy C+ ride around Center Moriches, that will average 12 - 12.6, and will be taking our break at Nettie's.
Riders should arrive at least 15 minutes before the ride start, to allow enough time for me to get everyone signed in and to "get yourself" ready.
B- ride to McDonalds in Manorville. Pulls always appreciated.
SHORT -- GULP and GO Water stops: at least 2 going & 1 on way back; however, with this heat, we will stop as often as necessary especially if some riders cannot drink while they ride.
NOTE: I changed the ride from C+/B-to a C+ due to the heat. This is a scenic ride with views of the Peconic River, farms and vineyards, and possibly a quick stop to view the L.I. Sound. There will be a stop in Cutchogue at a deli for a snack and bathrooms. No need to contact me. Check the ride calendar the day of the ride for changes, which would be posted by 07:00am.
Riding out east to my favorite view of mud creek. Stopping at Mattituck on the way back for optional ice cream.
A high end B- ride along scenic roads.
If you want to avoid having to pay to park get to Indian Island before 8:00. There will be an optional picnic following the ride for those that have signed up and paid for it. See the flier for details of the picnic - https://www.sbraweb.org/node/41176
NOTE:See you at the start, where we will decide if the weather will let us get this ride in !
REMEMBER to bring two water bottles, to stay hydrated in this heat !
What would an SBRA Picnic be without ants, Yellow Jackets and Thunderbirds? The start will be at the exotic site of Indian Island, so how about some island music :) https://youtu.be/eEep67akIn4
We will play nice and keep everyone together on this paceline ride. Everyone will get a chance to pull at the front, but there will be no jacking-up the pace like a bunch of Freds! We will ride like a team!
Our ride will be a controlled paceline ride that will take us out onto the North Fork and along Peconic Bay through Mattituck and Cutchogue. We may have a short stop in Cutchogue or Southold. We will then head up through the fields and eventually back through Mattituck, Jamesport and Riverhead.
We will keep a B/B+ pace. Those looking for a faster ride can join Dennis on his B+. Average will be between 16.5 and 17 mph. This ride is replacing Joanna's.
The club's Annual Picnic is back! Many ride levels will be available, so pick the ride/distance of your choice. Following the ride there will be water, food, sides, and dessert (most likely ice cream AND WATERMELON). You may bring any beverage ofyour choice, including beer and/or wine. 21-25 mile route depends on wind, riders, position of moon, tide and ride leaders disposition. Average 11.5-12.5mph. If you're there before 8am you beat the parking fee.

Please join me for a scenic B/B+ ride through Peconic and then for a fabulous picnic afterwards. If you are staying for the Picinic please sign up on the website. You do not have to stay if you are pressed for time or have other obligations. if you get to the park before 8 you will not have to pay to park.
If you would like a slower, less mileage ride, then come join me. Please let me know (a few days prior) if you are joining me, otherwise I'll go with Jeff.
Susan has graciously said it was OK if I offered a slower B- ride. If there are riders who aren't quite up to a strong B- ride then perhaps you will join me.
Of course after the ride is the club sponsored picnic, which I'm looking forward to but if choose not to attend and wish to ride, join me.
If you get to the park before 8 you will not have to pay to park.
This ride is for those not going to the picnic but want to ride today. I haven't done this ride for over a year so I thought it would be nice to do it again. We will be doing a scenic ride through Eastport, Remsenburg and Westhampton Beach. The average pace will be between 14.0 and 14.5 mph. +/- (which is in the low B- area) depending on the wind, road conditions, geese, ducks, squirrels, and rabbits. Road speed will be between 14.5 & 17 mph. We might end up with an extra mile but that's it. Pulling is always appreciated. You know the drill.
There will be a short break-a-way along Dune Road; we will NOT be going to the big bridge.
Around mile 24 we’ll stop at the Beach Bakery for some goodies and a bathroom break before heading back to the start.
My cell number is 631.484.3490; text anytime if you have questions about this ride, or need directions to the start. Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations which will be posted no later than 0715 if necessary.

This will be a LOW B- ride, which means we will be coming in with an average between 14 and 14.5. The route will be the usual Sunday route except we will go to Hecksher and do the short loop. We have be doing this when we were riding a C+/B- so you know you can do it. We wil l take a bathroom break in the park and a fuel stop at the bagle shop
Pulls are always appreciated. There will be GOOD STUFF after the ride.
If you have any questions or concerns please text me at 631.484.3490. Should there be a cancelation, or change it will be posted by 7:15am.
Today's’ route to Great River will change up a bit towards the end of the ride - if the wind is in our favor; making this route pretty flat except for 2 overpasses.
Ride starts at Oakdale RR station and goes to Bellport. This is a C+/B- ride, cruising at 14 to 16 mph to get an average of 13 to 14 mph. Any changes will be posted at least 90 minutes before the ride.

This is more of a tour than a typical club ride. We will be stopping to enjoy the view along the way.
This ride is for seasoned riders who are Extremely comfortable riding on roads without shoulders.
We will be starting from Northport Cow Harbor Park, Cruise parallel to Northport Harbor on historic Bayview Ave. Then ride through what was until 1968, the Steers Sand and Gravel Company AKA "the Pit," now a quiet bayside community of private homes and condos. We will then head out to Asharoken along the narrow causeway for a few miles. Along Asharoken ave to our left will beNorthport Bay and to our Right Long Island Sound and Connecticut. We will then head to Bevin rd with its wonderfully restored Historic Victorian Bevin mansion along with many architecturally interesting homes. On our return trip we will retrace our route with further exploration of "The Pit."
There are bathrooms at the start and finish and during the summer at Asharoken town beach.

We will take our break at the deli outside the park, where tables and a bathroom are available. This is a C+ ride, which will average 11.9 - 12.7, depending on the winds, etc. The exact route will be determined at the start, so there willnot be a cue sheet for this ride.
