The rains have not been good to the roads. We have lots of local flooding and roads breaking-up. ...
After experiencing East Bartlett this morning on the Krebs Ride, I can say Bartlett is NOT draining. There were several inches of standing water in several sections and potholes (craters?) and sand laying in wait. Thinking about having that water and its occupants spashing up on my water bottles and drinking from them...you get the idea! Not to mention the damage to the bike. East Bartlett: Just Say NO.
North St. in Manorville (just west of Wading River Rd.), also has a nice deep puddle covering the entire road, where the Peconic's headwaters have decided to take over the road surface. That probably means that part of north Wading River Road, by the dog kennels, has also been flooded. So if you are heading south on Wading River Road, it might be better to take the first left after Grumman Blvd. and head onto Wading River Manor / David Terry and pick up the dry part of North St. Then you can head south via Wading River Road to South St and bypass the the floods.
OR feel free to waterproof your shoes and go for a swim... :)
