At the end of the Lobster Roll North Fork ride, ride leaders and their groups are welcome to get together for lunch at the Lobster Roll North on Sound Avenue, which is a short ride from the Riverhead Waterfront. My ride, which I call the peconic meander, is a scenic ride along the North shore of the Peconic bay, has numerous water views, and passes vineyards and farms. There are restrooms available at our stop at a deli in Cutchogue. Numerous porta-potties are available along the way. Average speed will be between 14-14.5mph, depending on wind, heat/humidity, and rider ability. Since this will be a multi-leader ride, I may adjust the particulars of the ride to coordinate with the other ride leaders. Please check for updates, and be sure to check for changes by 06:30am day of ride. For info., contact Bill Gravitz at 631-356-3036. Park behind the Twin Forks bike shop. Nick at Twin Forks will have refreshments as we visit his bike shop after the ride. The restaurant opens 11:30, and they have a bar.
As you will see from the other posts, we are doing a multi-level ride starting at the Riverhead Waterfront, behind Twin Forks Cycles. After the ride, Nick (owner of Twin Forks Cycles) has graciously invited us to come in the shop for refreshments. Then, if you wish, some of us are heading over to the North Fork Lobster Roll, on Sound Avenue, for lunch.
Everyone is welcome to join us, but please let us know if you plan to do lunch so we can reserve enough space!
PARKING FOR THIS RIDE: we will be parking in the center of the Waterfront area, directly behind Twin Forks Cycles (large sign on the building, facing the water).
My ride will go out past Jamesport to Mattituck, where we will stop for a break on Love Lane. We will then head back toward Riverhead, riding past the Bison (if they are out) and back to the Waterfront. This will be at a C+/B- pace that will average 13.7 – 14.3 (with riding speeds of 15-16), depending upon wind, temperature, road conditions and rider ability.

If you enjoyed my SBRA Picnic ride on the North Fork, this is your chance to do it again! If you missed it, you have another chance to ride this beautiful route! This pace line ride will start at the Riverhead Waterfront down behind Twin Fork Bike Shop. Nick has graciously invited us to come in the shop for refreshments after the ride. Some of us are then heading to the Lobster Roll on Sound Ave. for lunch. Please join us! This is going to be a multi level ride, so watch for posts in various ride categories. Call my cell with any questions. Hope to see you on the ride!
Today we will be doing the Picnic Ride but starting at the Riverhead waterfront. After the ride we are going to the Lobster Roll for lunch so bring a change of clothes. Nick from Twin Forks bike Shop is nice enough to let us change at his shop. We did this ride last year and it was alot of fun. There are other groups going as well so it is a great time to mingle with friends.
This morning it might be nice to take a ride through Bellport and Patchogue stopping for a break at Mickey D’s around mile 20. The average pace will be between 14.8 to 15.0 mph depending on the roads, wind direction, dew point, and other conditions. Naturally, the road speed will be higher (15 -17.0 mph.) to produce the average. There will be the usual places for leg stretches for those who wish. Depending on the wind and the route back we might be adding a mile or two.
Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations which will be posted no later than 7:30am if necessary. My cell phone number is 631-484-3490; call anytime if you have questions about this ride.
