Stop at the beach for sightseeing, bring snacks and H2O. This ride has some hills on North Country Rd. We will wait up at the top of each hill, no one gets dropped. We will try to finish with an avg of 15-15.5 mph depending on wind and rider ability
Bring plenty of water...if the weather is hot and humid we will go at a slower pace
If it’s hot and humid the ride will go at a SLOWER PACE---
This will be the start of the SEAGULL CENTURY training rides. As the time period comes closer there might be a minor change here and there. All rides for the most part will be on Sunday.
You DO NOT have to be doing the century to go on any of these rides. The first ride will be about 35 miles since we all should be capable of doing this distance by now. Each week the ride will increase by 5 miles or so. By the time all training rides are completed I’m sure we will be able to do an easy 100 on a flat course, in Maryland, at a B pace. We may take turns at the front, this way you can enjoy the wind in your face and be the first to smell the roses or the road kill.
Today’s ride will take us to Great River. We will go through Connetquot Park and then do a loop in Heckscher Park where one can stretch the legs a bit. While in the park there will be a pee stop and a short break. The route is mostly flat with 2 little hills; maybe 3. The average pace for this ride will be between 14.5 & 15.0 mph, or what conditions allow. The road speed will be between 15 and 17.0 mph or slower if needed for safety concerns. We’ll be making a deli/rest stop right around mile 27.
Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations which will be posted no later than 7:30AM if necessary. My cell number is 631.484.3490; call anytime if you have questions about this ride or need directions to the start.
Come out and join me for a ride from Bellport to the Beach. We will make a stop at the 7-11 on William Floyd Pkwy. for a snack if you want to bring one to our break at the beach. This ride, which will average 11.6 - 12.9, depending on the wind, tide, disposition of ride leader, position of the moon and the slowest riders. No one gets left behind, and as always Newbies more than welcome. Any cancellation by 8:30am as stuff happens.
Update. I'm moving the ride back and making it less milage due to the heat. This ride will head up towards Manorville. We'll take a short break. Speed will be 13-15mph. Check for any changes by 12:30pm day of.
