We'll meet up at the northeast end of the Syosset LIRR parking lot (no parking permit required on weekends). Mineola Bicycle Club's A/BB riders will also be joining us.
This ride takes us from Syosset through the North Shore villages of Muttontown, Upper Brookville, Roslyn, Sands Point, Port Washington, Manhasset, Great Neck, Kings Point, Roslyn Heights and Old Westbury. Please bring two water bottles, as the first food/drink stop (with rest rooms) will be 40 miles into the ride.
Ride to Northport with rest stop at Copenhagen Bakery in Northport. Grab a coffee and your favorite bakery item and we'll sit by the harbor for a while and watch the boats go by while having breakfast.
Some hills but nothing crazy. Wait-ups at the top of the hills. No one gets dropped. Average speed may come in around the "B" level classification (15-16mph) due to hills but I'm posting this ride a little higher due to effort required for hills.
See some of the nicest areas on the North Fork. Bring snack and plenty of water. We will make a couple of short stops but no lengthy food stop. My cell 646-643-6856
we will do a ride to Babylon and then hang out for a quick brunch in the parking lot. I will have some table and chairs plus dunken donut coffee and donuts. bring your own munchies and enjoy the post ride get together.
For those of us not going on the lobster ride we will take a leisurely ride out to Manorville. Bring snacks and or $ for a rest stop at the Manorville McDonalds. Depending on the group we will try to average in the 14.5-15.0 range with cruising speeds slightly higher.
The only CHANGE is the mileage, and I finally put in the ride description. Sorry for the delay.
Ok, finally this ride is no longer called the Loster Time ride. I was lost, but I found my way, therefore, it is officially the Lobster Time ride. I must give Margaret Z. credit for planning this ride for me since I’m a little unfamiliar with this neck of the woods.
It will be a beautiful scenic ride passing many wineries; might miss the lobster, just joking. We will be starting in Mattituck and work our way eastward and south to Nassau Beach, we will not be doing the rollers down to the point. After that we’ll go eastward some more to the town of Southold and then start working our way back for our lobster lunch. Somewhere there will be a rest and a bathroom stop.
The average pace for the ride will be between 14.5 and 15.0 mph, depending on the roads and wind direction, the ride could come in a tad faster, meaning in the lower “B” range. Whatever the average, just remember we are going to have a beautiful, fun ride!
Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations which will be posted in the early morning. Look at it this way, if it’s not raining it won’t be cancelled. If the day is rained out the lunch will still be a go. If you didn’t sign up for the lunch, oh well you can still do the ride.
If you have any questions about the ride, the lunch or the start location please call or text me at 631.484.3490
I will be doing a C ride, for about 18 miles and there will be cue sheets. We'll most likely ride over toward Riverhead and may take a break at the deli on Meeting House Creek Road (near the train crossing).
Anyone can do the ride itself, but the lunch is now FULL, and there are no day-of signups!
Ride from Pace's Dockside in Mattituck to New Suffolk, Nassau Point and Horton Point. This should be a very pretty ride. We will go at a relaxed enough pace to enjoy the scenery, a C+/B- pace (14-16 on flats to give avg of 13-14) with no one left behind. Some rolling hills. Bring water and/or hydration fluids. Bring a snack for the short stops at Nassau Point and Horton Point.
If you do not want to stay for the 11th Annual Lobster Extravaganza you can still come out and do this ride with us. Ride through the beautiful countryside of Mattituck to Indian Island Park for a quick stop. As always Newbies always welcome and NOBODY left behind. Any cancellation due to weather for the ride will be by 7:30AM. If you want to stay for the buffet see the attached info on the front web page. There are only 80 spots available for the buffet and it is filling FAST!
Wildwood will be the rest stop, we will stop at the Deli to pick up snacks to be eaten in the park speed will be determined by the wind, who shows up, how the leader feels that day, not to exceed the SBRA guidelines for a C+ paced ride, no one left behind, Cell Phone 631-484-1650 call for info 7am-8pm.
